OT Political: The American Conservative
OT Political: The American Conservative
Excellent article in The American Conservative mag/website, Feb 29th issue. Pretty much what I've been saying all along, but in a way that the conservatives would likely agree.

You could call it propaganda, except that it's from a bastion of rightist propaganda. It's the kettle, admitting it's black. If Rush is the current leader of conservatism, woe to conservatism.--->JMS

We do not need liberalism or what passes for conservatism today. We need Constitutionalism, we need leaders that understand and remember the Constitution. B. Hussein Obama is not the answer, John McCain was not the answer either. Ron Paul was the only hope America had, now I fear it gone way too far and there is no hope. We are a Socialist Republic and I want no part of it.

I refuse to believe that. America is not the barren wasteland some would have you believe. Every bit of this has happened before, there have been hard times, and liberal presidents, and spending bills before. We're not becoming Marxist anytime soon, we still have a vote, and Americans are not Marxist. Where's your patriotism? Do you have that little faith in the way things work?undercoverjoe wrote: there is no hope.
There's no hope for the pundits who tell you there's no hope. Consider the backlash against them. Rush hopes a sitting president fails in a time of crisis and war. If anyone had uttered those words right after 9/11, he'd be in Gitmo now. Now he doesn't mean he wants the country to fail, but that wouldn't have mattered back then, either. The shoe was on the other foot then, though. Rush is simply getting his correction for his more-of-the-same stance. Nobody wants that anymore.
There is hope, I think. Tomorrow you'll get up, and the world's still turning, and you're not a Commie, and maybe you'll realize, it ain't that bad. --->JMS

That's a shitty statement. It wasn't a choice for us, this country is turning socialist right underneath us, without resistance. That's like someone intruding into your house, telling you what to do and if you don't like it, you can always move...witchhunt wrote:undercoverjoe wrote:We are a Socialist Republic and I want no part of it.
Lotsa planes leaving every day.
Its either help with the revolution or look elsewhere. Jefferson said that every generation or so needs a revolutiion, I'd say we are about 15 generations overdue. This last election is evidence. One choice was a socialist and the other was a big government democrat (you decide which was which).witchhunt wrote:undercoverjoe wrote:We are a Socialist Republic and I want no part of it.

when
When you guys get settled in whatever country you are moving to let me know how it turns out.
What a bunch of pussies, I didn't get my way I want no part of it!
Believe me, us Americans will do fine without you. Conservative, Liberal, democrat, republican, the answer is never "I want no part of it". Yeah, that is what makes us strong. NOT!
I refuse to believe in your whiny ass bullshit. I refuse to believe that America cannot overcome her problems. I refuse to give up hope.
For the rest of us, we will stay strong. We will fight for our Country and we will pull together as Americans. We shall overcome and if you don't want any part of it then leave.
It makes me ill, all the whining that goes on.
I do understand the frustration though, I just went through 8 years of it. I felt like we were getting screwed everyday and everyone around me seemed to like it. So to that frustration I say from experience that this too shall pass.
The truth seems to be that we can pull together or we can fight amongst ourselves.
This forum does not really matter much politically but I like to think that every person and their opinion count.
PS Rob, you gotta know that either you work through the system to change the system or you don't. If you don't want to work the system to change it to what you believe in then what are we doing here anyway? To say "I want no part of it" seems to elude to not caring or not having the balls to change anything, to stand up and make a difference. I respectfully submit that part of being an American is having said balls enough to stand and speak, not to lay down and whine.
Do you agree?

Re: when
I agree with you, but the point is this: when this country goes to socialism, the people will have no say. We can't let this happen to our country, right underneath us. The socialists take a little here and a little there, so no one really notices. By using words such as "change" and "hope" it makes people feel better. Then all the sudden you wake up and realize that you aren't in a free country anymore, you are just another pawn for the socialist agenda for more power and control.tornandfrayed wrote:PS Rob, you gotta know that either you work through the system to change the system or you don't. PS. I think the whole move if you don't like it should refer to the people that don't like America. I love this country, I just wish it wasn't going to turn into the socialist country that it will. When has socialism ever worked out for the good?
