Looking for 600' of flat smooth asphalt

Post by JackANSI »

Anyone know where I can find that? Just 600' as flat and smooth as possible in any direction, I'll even settle for diagonal.

It is for a car, just not a full size one. Since someone's thread a before christmas about a RC truck, I went and dusted off a bunch of my RC stuff and I've been tweeking some this winter.

I'm taking aim at a speed record.

I'm not even sure off hand where there is such terrain in PA.
Maybe the airport or a small section of I99?
600ft is approx 1/8 mile, but what does that scale up to?

What's the record?
How are you going to clock it, with a radar gun?

Probably gonna have to mess with gear ratios and tire sizes until you find the perfect combo, but since you'll have a constant of 600ft, it will give you a good point to start with.

This is mostly for testing out ratios and seeing if the foam tires will even stay on the rims and not wear out before the run ends.

After 400' of applying power I expect to be somewhere around 90 - 100mph. Was doing 65-80 mph runs with a different chassis, same brushless setup 6100rpm/v, on 3S (11.1v) The new car has a 6S 40C 5250mah lipo (22.2v).

End goal is 120mph to take the TC5 chassis record by 40mph. i'll be using GPS and a telemtry transmitter to keep an eye on speeds for testing.

I have a Quadramatic Digulator and a 1.21 jigawatt Flux capacitor if you need to borrow them.

I also have a first gen T-maxx. poor thing has just been hanging out in my garage collecting dust. I'd be down for some spring time driving.

I don't have any trucks or off-road gear anymore :(

Spent too much time cleaning up dirt/mud and fixing broken bits

McNally bridge on 219 heading out of richland(johnstown) heading for somerset. thats a nice flat stretch, the bridge itself. 2nd highest bridge in the state if i'm not mistaken. they used to drag race on it. its a quater mile.

on a side note, i once drug a boulder, out to the middle, on the cat-walk underneath, and hurled it over to see the splash and the sound of that boulder hitting the water, it was fuckin loud!!! ahhh... to be young again!
good times
