Bergils Round House Bar
Bergils Round House Bar
Hey all,
I was checking out the Vs. The Earth schedule and it said that they are playing at this bar in Altoona on Sunday, September 12th. Their email newsletter said that this is a new club opening. Does anybody know anything about it????

Blair Communications (Zilly & Rusty Koelle) did the PA. EAW boxes (hung, to stay out of the way), QSC amps, Mackie board. It's not a massive bottom-heavy rig, but tough sh*t, it's a restaurant, not the Civic Arena. I'm sure those booked there will find it more than adequate. It's kind of a live room, so getting overly loud will just load the room too hard, and ruin the sound of the band anyway. It IS a beautiful club, and will likely be the hot place for awhile, anyway. Good luck 'Canes!--->JMS

Just curious as to what the scoop is with this new club, since we will be playing there in a few weeks. Can any of the bands that have played there thus far give me the down low on the crowd and sound?

Played there Sunday night and it's a beautiful place. The ownership and staff are great people, and are to be applauded for there support of live music right out of the gate! Now, the room the bands play in is relatively small compared to the overall size of the place. It's extremely live so I would suggest trying to keep the stage (floor) volume down to a minimum so the PA can do it's job. The sound system is fine. You may find that micing everything isn't necessary. We did mic all the drums but he was surrounded by one of those acrylic shields which helped to keep our backline volume down.
