Well, not everybody is into bands who make noise and try playing drums as fast as they can, throw in guitar licks that sound like mush, and have a vocalist that growls and sounds like a demon.
I'm glad to see regular rock/hard rock bands making a come back...bands I grew up on. Everybody has an opinion and their choice of music. My opinion of music now...every band sounds the same, every band is thrash/speed/some type of core...not what I enjoy. This trend will burn out just like rap-rock and every other type of rock variation...it's all getting oversaturated.

I booked hard rock/rock bands. I'd say the heaviest band I booked was 3 Inches of Blood or maybe Sword Enemy. I focused on bands like Flaw, Dope, Bobaflex, SOiL, Egypt Central, Ill Nino...bands that most of the younger musicians, newer music style musicians wouldn't like. I have a lot of friends who play in thrash/speed/death/core bands. They are all great people and musicians and I respect and admire what they do. It's just not my music of choice.

where in the hell have you been???? yeah every band sounds the same......but holy shit its not thrash...its modern rock thats all over the place. the same band but with different faces. they all want the same sound. thats what a 'trend' is....JayBird wrote:Well, not everybody is into bands who make noise and try playing drums as fast as they can, throw in guitar licks that sound like mush, and have a vocalist that growls and sounds like a demon.

You have a point, but...RobTheDrummer wrote:Cold may have one hit, but it's one more hit than any of us have!
<insert pretentious, self-indulgent line about how I'm a true "artist" so I feel better about being a local musician and not "selling out" (i.e., making music that more than the three people who hang out in my basement will like) to the man>

If I was trying to write hits/make money I'd probably get into the whole techno/electronica-core (look up - Brokencyde) stuff that's popular with the kids right now. It's cool if you like COLD.. I don't. So, I say....meh.
BTW
Cold were just as much a fad as any band/genre you mentioned. Hence everyone's reaction.

avg people dont know what good music is. hits mean nothing anymore. well except for the band who is making $$ off it.
record execs treat people like sheep. "oh if they like that..they will like this.."
