Honestly, they might be 'old' but they kicked some serious ass last night in Pittsburgh! He has more energy than three 10 year olds put together.

Dude I'm glad to hear they still rocked. I wanted to go see them in DC but didn't get the chance. Buddy that had tickets took his girlfriend instead of me! Talk about a dick!!!

Who opened for them???

An Irish band called The Answer opened for them. With the weather and getting a late start, we only caught their last two songs. From what I heard, they were good. I took my brother-in-law to the concert with me. He's a huge AC/DC fan - and I figured he was due for a good show being that the last concert he saw was Wild Cherry at the Jaffa Mosque circa 1978 or 79

Hey it could be worse...it could be this:

It's not a picture, this is a video of them playing. Watch carefully, and they may move. Well, not really. My point is, Angus could be 90 and he'll still be jumpin' around like a fool, and I'll pay to see that way before going to see ZZ Top stand there for 3 hours.

So the more you jump around, the better the music? That gets me to thinking...man, is Black Sabbath boring to watch.

I didn't say that jumping around makes the music better, Bill, but if you watch the ZZ Top concert that airs from time to time on VH1 Classic, it's ungodly boring. All they do is stand there. I go to a show for more than the music, I go to watch a show. I want to be entertained for my money. I want energy, movement, and entertainment. Not two statues with beards going through the motions while the drummer barely plays.

The most entertaining concert that I've ever been to was Rob Zombie at the Bryce Jordan Center years ago. Zombie had the most unreal stage show, complete with pillars of fire, giant robots, dancing girls in cages, and he was all over the place. Entertaining as hell, and worth every penny.

We're not only in the music business, we're in the entertainment business. And I think that some bands have forgotten that.

I understand what you guys are saying but different bands have different stage style. It would be very odd to see Angus stand still but it would also be odd to see Tony Iommi or Billy Gibbons run around like Scott Ian.

I saw Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers a few years ago and while they played well and sounded tight and all, they were one of the most boring, least energetic bands I ever saw and barely moved.

Agreed, but Rob Zombies also sacrifices about half the lyrics to his songs when he performs, and the ones he gets out sound like he's gasping like he's been running a marathon. There's gotta be some middle ground for me. You want to entertain, but don't sacrifice the reason you're there.

zz top dosn't run all over the place while they are playing because they play...

blues. they play blues. not necessarily the most energetic music to be known.

i would expect a rambunctious stage show to accompany a punk band... but a blues band? when i go see felix, i don't expect back flips. i expect very well played music played by guys that make it look effortless.

what really cracks me up is that at least zz top's songs don't all sound the same. ac/dc really dosn't... and i'm sure i'm 'bout to get flamed for this... but they really just seem to rip themselves off. when you have 3 albums worth of material based predominantly around E A and D power chords... i mean... you better move around onstage.

it's just my opinion...

By this reasoning, Brittany Spears, who puts out a hell of a dance program when she sings would entertain you more than a ZZ Top concert. I'll take the boys from Texas anyday.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure AC/DC knows they rip themselves off. I've read a quote from Angus that basically said, "I heard someone say that AC/DC only has 3 songs they keep doing over and over, which upset me. We only do one!"
Whatever they do, they've had a pretty good career. I think a lot of their early stuff holds up pretty well, too, I can listen for something other than nostalgia reasons.--->JMS

Gotta disagree with that one.....

Saw them in Wilkes-Barre and DC (See little sniveling bitch post by Stone Cold) hehe.......

and "The Answer" were a complete Led Zeppelin rip-off.......GOOD but a rip-off none the less.....

As soon as they stopped playing people were making comments like "Hey Jimmy Page called he wants his guitar riffs back"

"What a Robert Plant rip off"

Gotta admit... Other than seeing "Fastway"open up for a band 20 years ago that's the closest I'll ever come to seeing Zeppelin live... hehe...

Actually, yes, and she's a tad easier on the eyes than Dusty, Billy, or Frank. Seriously, come on Joe. Top doesn't even walk around the stage. They stand in one place, and play. That's it. My 92 year old grandmother moves more than them. They had some good music in the past, but they are BORING to see in concert. I wouldn't pay to see them now. If I'm shelling out their ticket prices, I better be entertained, and 3 guys standing there is not entertaining to me.

Hey Kevin,
I remember about a year or two ago, some weenie posted something about local bands being boring cause of no energy and lasers, etc. Weren't you one of the ones who really ripped on that guy for saying that? Just thought I'd mention it.

Nah, Bill, we were actually ripping on her because she was an idiot, and only chose to post links and pics to 80's hair bands without having any type of coherent conversation. She wanted local bands to have arena-type stage shows and stuff like that.
