new reverb pedal

what is the best reverb pedal? i want a new one, i have a boss rv-3
delay and reverb all in one. im not to crazy about the reverb any help?

the ElecroHarmonix Holy Grail is pretty cool... alot more "authentic" than the Boss tp my ears...

I've always been a fan of the Boss reverb, but they are more of a digital type of reverb; I could see people not being a fan of of them if they want a more vintage or spring-loaded reverb.

My dad has some vintage reverb, an original Marlboro QSB-II. It's about the size of a small solid state guitar or bass head, but it's the shizzle for old school reverb. It has a tremelo effect that will nail Peter Buck's sound from Monster (e.g., Crush With Eyeliner, Bang and Blame).

thats the one i use, just started using it and i really like it. i was useing a digital delay to get that reverb effect since the bassman doesn't have reverb and just got used to doing that. the holy grail has just 1 switch, spring or hall type reverb and 1 big knob you just put it where it sounds good and thats it. not like, three knobs you have to try to blend together to get to sound good. i hate gizmos like that. 1 knob, 1 switch they're probobly like 100 bux or so, i got mine at terry's (guitars and stuff) used for about 75. 00.

I always had a peeve about reverb pedals because they end up going in front of the preamp. Reverb sounds best after the preamp, in the FX loop.

Put this in your FX loop with the 3 button remote pedal and you will get excellent reverb PLUS your choice of excellent delay, chorus, flanger, phaser, tremolo and vibrato to boot.

Personally, I’m ALL about the effects loop! The guys at Guitar Center get pretty annoyed at my “stress testing”. On the other hand, I realize that most guitar players don’t want to mess with their effects loop. They’d rather have something to stomp on.

I did give that Holy Grail pedal a try at Guitars n’ Stuff about 4 moths ago. I liked it!

I have a G Sharp,it does work nice, although you can't have chorus and delay at the same time because they are in the same engine.Still a nice unit for basic effects. I may sell mine in the near future if anyone is interested.

I also have an RV5 but I've been thinking about going to the Hardwire reverb. Hardwire's a new line from Digitech. I also thought about one of Fender's tube reverb units but that's kinda bulky to drag around. The hardwire's reverb is courtesy of Lexicon and as a result seems smoother and more natural.
