What are your music to remember moments in 2008 ?
I have many, but I'll start with just a few.
First gig with the Hawks (Sharing the musical moment with mjb with his virgin trip to the stage)
Seeing local bands open for national acts st the Railroaders museum
Watching Slacker Theory grow
The power of Nail Driver at Aldo's
The Jim Price Rock a Thon. Many special aspects to that night . All of the bands and all of the good spirit
The Front Reunion
Making new Rockpage friends
Drummer get-togethers
Seeing the British Invasion for the first time
Seeing US Sound Theater at DelGrosso Park
And sharing these moments with friends and family

- Hiring Jim
- Learning that my singer cheated death
- Getting my Icon 5
- Taking part in a plot with old sKool's girlfriend to give him a new guitar. His friend had an older Jackson Soloist that he's always talked about selling. Kenny's girlfriend secretly bought it off of him. At a gig at 30 Something, she switched its case with the Soloist he normally plays, and when he opened the case to what he thought was his SLH2, he found the new guitar.
- Rockpage Jam and JP Rock-a-thon
- First Bass Get Together (don't kick our asses for stealing your idea, drummers
)
- 30 Something gig on May 31st, which was part of an extended series of events to get the girl of my dreams
- Bobby Lee fronting Lies, Inc. (probably should go with the aforementioned Rock-a-thon, but I think it warrants its own bullet)
- Thumbing our noses at the PLCB by playing acoustic in venues that they had chosen to harass
- The great times sharing the stage with Eric, even though he moved on to other projects
- Walking into a Barnsboro Legion gig to learn that our normal production company had just purchased intelligent lighting
- Realizing that I can actually sing a few backup vocals when needed
- Seeing Disturbed live
Hmm...no record deals or opening for the Led Zepplin reunion, but it was a pretty decent year.

One of the coolest things I saw musically all year was the VH1 Rock Honors for THE WHO! They are easily one of the best bands of all time. And to see all these great current bands paying tribute was awesome. Then THE WHO actually came out (the ones that remain) and blew it up! I hope I'm still able to rock and still be considered cool when I am that age!

I put a blog on my Myspace with a Mama Corn recap, but here are some:
Playing at Jackson's Place in Smithfield in March, one of those nights when the crowd and the band synchs right up.
Our first set at Mayhem On The Mountain fest in WV. We thought we had 2 more hours to wait, and enjoyed some high-quality beans. The moment the last bowlful was finished, the Hillbilly Gypsies lead singer bursts in and says, "You're on after this song... wait, song's over. You're on NOW!!" We barely managed to find our way to the stage, then trundled through our songs. I remember it sounded like we were playing in a fishbowl, and felt like playing on the moon. A few members of the band thought we sounded great. The tape told the truth. Never again. We did, however, meet The Weedhawks and The Fox Hunt, two BRILLIANT groups you WILL be hearing more of in the near future.
Our first set at Smoked Country Jam was fun, if a bit hung over. That crowd is probably our favorite, we have to get more homeboys at that show, it's too much fun.
The Altoona First fest at Lakemont was probably our best show ever, musically... and the only one this year we didn't record. Damn!!
We played a full show at a community picnic just outside Pittsburgh... after the first set, the mayor came up and anounced that they were changing the name of the town, Osborne Glen, to Glen Osborne. That's what it was originally a hundred-plus years ago, and they changed it back to reflect the town Celtic heritage, but we prefer to tell people it was because we played there, and ruined the town henceforth.
We sold out the Duncansville VFW with the Gypsies in May, and it was one for the ages. Only fire codes kept us from putting more fans in that place, and some of the best bluegrass ever played around here made it a night to remember.
Roar In The Mountains was excellent, despite audio problems, and was a personal highlight for me, as a pair of new fans drove a great distance specifically to see Mama Corn. I was very touched and humbled by that, I don't think I could ever get used to people going to such trouble.
We played at the Brookmere Winery near Belleville on a misty summer night... breathtaking scenery, friendly folks, local wine... what a wonderful evening.
Finally, the Remington Ryde fest in Reedsville... Brucie was dealing with a bad breakup, and it was hot and humid as Satan's armpit, but the music was world-class, and we added fans to the Children Of The Corn. Schweet!
Here's wishing all of you a great 2009. Have fun, make money, score chicks, and above all, Rock On Butterscotches!---->JMS

Hawk, you've already mentioned a few of mine.
JP Rockathon
Hearing mjb and being dumbfounded as to why he hasn't been on stages for years. The dude's a very brilliant guitarist.
Seeing my old buddy Hayf become a multi-band member.
A gig with Ricky Lee at Seneca Rocks West Virginia (I wonder if that bat is still in our cabin).
Watching and listening to my son play with Bad Daze and House Atlantic. Haven't had a chance to see the new band yet though.
Playing the Sound Theatre gig at DelGrosso's
Playing with Ricky at Thunder in the Valley. The skies opened up and it was a torrential downpour. After a few minutes the sun was out again but it was still pouring. Ricky looked over at me with a big grin and said "oh, what the hell". He ran off the stage and got drenched with the folks that stayed through the rain.
Mya's Miracle autism benefit at the Bavarian with the British Invasion
Happy New Year one and all.

The JP Rock-a-thon was a great example of solidarity in place of competition! One big Love Fest, that! Doing Stormy Monday with the Hurricanes stirred me soul!
Thunder in the Valley. We got lucky with the weather and the people were a blast! The best part was that my New Orleans "soul sister" Cher Bordenave came up from Louisiana to be there. I hadn't seen that girl in 12 years and we pawtied like mad to make up for lost time!
The Battle of the Bands at the Railroad Museum with Flight 19, Lies Inc., Spirit Lost & Nitekast. Great Venue, Wonderful Crowd! Annnnd we had our own go go dancers!
The 3rd Annual Spy Glass Winery Blues Fest. We get to play in a giant tent in the middle of a beautiful winery and those people are really so appreciative! Hayf and Big Jim were onboard for that one and it was a magical day!
The People's Choice Fest in Boalsburg. It was one hot mofo but the show was so fun! Sides, singing and shopping! It don't get better than that for Trace!
The private Birthday party for the cool Alexandria gent! Thanks, Randy & Jan from Memories!
All the Memories Shows - even the one when I tripped over Drew's stands, ripped the pocket off ma jeans and gashed my leg! Thank God for tequila!!
Jammin' with the Hawk Boys at Harold's last night and seeing all the music friends! Sherry & Harold - we love ya!!
Our first show with Bill Smith at The Sports Bar & Grill. Man!!
Tony's Big Easy, Cafe 210, Sports Bar & Grill, Racer's, Bellwood Eagles, Susquehanna Valley Country Club, Shikellamy Park, Skeeter's, Shade Mountain Winery, Grange Fair & all who we've played forthis year - Thanks for a great 2008! Here's to 2009 bein' mighty fine!!

I played better than I had expected that I would at the Windber Moose picnic & I think that I left an impression on those in attendance. Hey, I like it when I'm satisfied with my playing & that doesn't happen often lately, unfortunately. Most of all, I'm happy to have survived the year in general, music-related or otherwise, as well as my family. Carry On!!!!
I've drank enough beer to float a battleship! Go ahead and Rock & Roll all night if you can but don't party every day!
Yeah, I think that everyone can agree on that one. Seven years is a long time to be together with the same band members - no "itch" yet, huh? One reason is because you all know a good thing when you got one. Like a minimum "Benjamin Franklin" for each player for every show. What musician would take a pass on that for anything other than a major reason? Oh yeah, you all have to gel & enjoy each other's company too. Don't misunderstand me, it's a lot of hard work, but you all are some lucky bastids!!!! Call me jealous but don't piss on my resessing parade!!!!bassist_25 wrote:That truly is an accomplishment!moxham123 wrote:Reaching our 7th year anniversary as The Conniptions (with the same 3 guys no less).

1-Playing a years worth of steady gigs. I'm used to 3-6 months here and there.
2-Seeing someone get beat by their own shoe. I always thought that was just a Waynes World cliche.... Not in Petersburg...
3-Finding out that Clutch rocks.

geeze, i have quite a few. alot of firsts for me this year. so here it goes.
getting together with bandmates for the first time at robs house and jamming and it sounding pretty good.
rocpage jam back in march was first time out, got through that, everyone couldn't have been any nicer. we played as the "arthur itus blues band" as we didn't have a name yet.
we worked toward learning 25 songs before we went a knockin on Hayfs door, walking into his house and seeing his cool-ass jamroom and thinking to myself "ah fuck, i hope i don't suck tonight". we warmed up with mary had a little lamb whilst HH set the controls. i remember when we went into "not my cross to bear" which we learned but never played it with the B3. when harold came in with the B3 that song just came to life and it sounded so good, and all my dreams had been realized at that moment. i didn't care if we played out or not. that right there was good enough for me i could have died that night a fullfilled man. getting to gig out with these guys would be a bonus.
first gig downtown then afterwards we went to 30 something to kind of celebrate the first gig and check out the hurricanes. bobby and felix asked me to sit in and i was like "no i'm good. thankyou though", next thing you know hayf and bill are out at my truck getting me stuff out, i end up jamming some bb king tune and a few others with the canes. definitly a night to remember for me and i'm glad my bandmates pushed me to do it. it is a cherrished memory.
listening/seeing hayf jam out with the canes which then led to us diong an evening togeth with them and jamming some great stuff with two drummers and all that.
band field trip to see derek trucks band was alot of fun.
all the support of everybody and all the cool people i keep meeting has made this one of the best years ever. and all this happened cuz i met one person: "Hawk". funny how things work out.
jam at hayfs the other night was cool trace.
rickw, your the nicest guy, it guys like you, with your kind words and support that make it so fun for me.
thanks everyone for all the support this year, it really is a good time to reflect on this year, alot has happened and i really only scratched the surface.
happy new year all.

Finally Recording a Full length with FedUp. (getting ready to send out for copying and packaging now that we have the finished master in our hands!!!).
Jamming with two of the best metal guitarists Dave Charlton and Scott Bush. These guys have two uniquely different styles, and when they come together it's AMAZING!
Meeting a ton of cool people through shows and Rockpage.
Every Benefit, but especially the Benefit for Chance (8 year old who got the liver transplant he needed.) and The Reesemen Benefit. Both were a lot of work to put together, but I had a ton of help from a lot of Rockpagers, and worth every bit of it.
The birth of my daughter, Sarah!!!!!!
The Side Effects, even though it was short-lived
Scoobs Big Ass Motocross/Music Party!
Seeing Dick Shack Posse, and singing along to every song til I lost my voice!!!(Even when one of my bands had to pay after them
)
Some Lows:
Fedup Hiatus- I NEED TO JAM ASAP!!!
Justin Cuff Getting A REAL JOB!!!= Death to The Side Effects
