two words: yucca mountain. there is no safer, easier way to dispose of nuclear waste. it's dry, because it's in the damn desert, and it's not near any fault lines to be effected by earth quakes. believe it or not, the people that want to use nuclear power aren't just throwing the waste around like it's no big deal.

as for wind power, you lose 5 square acres for each windmill erected. when you tally the number of windmills needed to make enough power to power the entire us, we'd have no room to grow food. nuclear power now makes more sense than anything.

If you look at Cresson ridge while driving west on 22 from Hollidaysburg, you will see a row of giant windmills. Yesterday, I saw one of them turning slowly. Today, they were all still. I have yet to see them all turning at once...

I can understand using windmills on private spreads (like farms & ranches) to generate extra power...but directly for the power grid? Are you kidding? I don't think there is a more unreliable source of energy. But we can use storage batteries, you say? And what do you do with these batteries when they are spent? Can you spell m-e-g-a-t-o-n-s of h-a-z-a-r-d-o-u-s w-a-s-t-e?

The re-chargeable electric car? Are you kidding? We already have power grid problems at peak times when all those A/C's are running. Imagine now, boys and girls, when 30+ million cars are plugged in at once.

Warren Buffet was wrong last month when he bought all those warrants and now, T. Boone is wrong about investing in wind power. He is already helping to create the next financial bubble...better get those windmill stocks now while they are still cheap! Don't worry, they will be even cheaper in about 5 years.

And all this time...not one word about developing fusion technology. It is so far on the back burner that a reactor scheduled to be started in 2007 was delayed until maybe next year. This is because the U.S.A. pulled a lot of funding from it. And why not...the damn thing is being built in JAPAN. If you want an Apollo-style energy program, it ain't solar power and it sure as hell ain't windmills. The only thing that represents that kind of leap forward is fusion. Virtually unlimited and truly clean, safe power.

Hey, I know, why don't we all raise lightning bugs? We can put a bunch of them in bulbs with enough lightning bug food to last 750 hours!

There are at least 100 giant windmills within a 50 mile radius of where I live in Duncansville. My electric bill has not come down 1%. Where is the benefit of this "FREE" source of energy? I'm certainly not seeing it.

any site advertising "over a decade of RESISTANCE" appears very very very hippie to me. i'd love to know who runs the site but every time i click on the "who we are" link, i get a 404 not found page. i'd just love to find what anti-corporate socialist movement is behind this just like the one behind green peace and the answer coalition.

You have GOT to be kidding me. If you read just what is written when you click on the link I provided (let alone read any further on any of the articles/links included on it), you know exactly why they are resisting the waste facility, nuclear energy, and instead promoting clean, renewable sources of energy. If one also believes in, or simply respects their tenets, you find them very PRO, Positive, and not the slightest bit socialist.

How long has nuclear energy been around??? The Shoshone were here way before then, but why should anyone CARE about a Treaty, right? Yet again, bu$ine$$ a$ u$ual in the U$A. :x As for Yucca Mountain being safe and no faults or earthquakes...how DID a mountain become a mountain??? Cancer estimates keep being changed (they are not even mentioning other health effects), and it is not known how long the containers holding the waste will last before they corrode and seep into ground water. "...very, very, very hippie..." What ever, dude. :D
