Peter C's parking caution

Post by Jim Price »

Just a word of advice, after learning the hard way...

If you're going to a show at Peter C's, do NOT park in the Credit Union lot across the street. After allowing people to park there for many months without a problem, the Credit Union folks apparently became a**holes about it overnight, and I received a nice $15 reminder not to park there from the Altoona Police (must be short on Krispy Kreme donut funds, eh guys? Why not try solving some real crimes in your spare time?).

::gasps:: There's *crime* in Altoona? Nooooo... I don't believe it...! That's like saying I never had to remove drug deal happenings from my drive way when I lived in Johnstown...

Yea, well, while they were 'busy' with that, a girl's car window was smashed and her CD player and stuff was taken out of her car near the Cantina while we were in there listening to music Friday night. Be careful when parking near this bar, the police have their hands full ticketing people in the parking lots of businesses that close at 5.

You know, you can't comlain because they are doing their job. If they get the call they should respond. I also feel there are a lot of things that they could be doing elsewhere. But there at least should have been some fair warning or something. Are there even "no parking" signs?

I checked on Saturday and yes, there is now a sign posted at the entrance. I parked there on Thursday night, no problem. But 24 hours later...

During our first week in the Keys, I learned the hard way and ended up spending $25 to park for about 3 hours because I didn't put enough money in the meter. After that, we found a nice parking place that only charged $5 the entire day if you were an employee to Irish Kevin's. Hell, they had specially marked police cars just to give tickets out. Go figure. Something I did notice and really appreciated the entire time we were there is that there were plenty of police throughout the entire island. Better yet, they really didn't bother people too much at all.

I like the meters up in state college. You know it's after six. Supposedly they're done collecting money. Still.. you feed the meters. They give you time.. then state "time expired, free parking". but they will not return the money you already plugged in. that cracks me up.

And if you park in any of the municipal parking lots in State College, don't back your car into the space, park front-end in. $5 ticket if you don't. (Gotta have that parking lot looking neat and linear...) Again, I learned that lesson the hard way...

Now THAT's what you call cops with too much time on their hands. I can understand if you put the damn thing in sideways or something, but come on.

Or my ultimate favorite:
I would stay the night at this one house Friday nights when we went out drinking. Saturday mornings I'd always have to get up before 8 to move the car to the other side of the street (one of the snow ordinance things)...even if there was no snow?!? Well, one time, we didn't do that Friday night haunt and decided to go out of state for a few days... So I parked the car, left it running. Ran in to get him...got stuck talking to someone.. so we went out to smoke while he was finishing getting ready.. The cop was out there writing up a ticket for my car! It was ten till 8. I promptly went out, moved the running vehicle to the other snowless side and left him sputtering. It wasn't 8am yet and he couldn't hand over that ticket to me legally. He wasn't happy. A$$hole. Seems he did that up and down the road pre 8am to everyone. Those who got tickets fought it and won. Stupid popo's. I believe he's also the cop that started instigating in cresson having to park facing traffic not facing away from it when you park on the street. Again. Stupid popo's.
