The Athenian Cafe in Altoona, located on Fairway Drive at the old Sir Skate building. Their menu has several greek favorites (spinach pie, gyros, stuffed grape leaves, etc.). 949-0991

Now I'm off for some lo mein and hot & sour soup. :D

don't go to east end anymore. go to Mac's (The Gridiron) on the other end of the block. bigger sandwich, better quality, exactly the same as east end, but they cost less. take it from a tyrone-y

A big plate of manicotti from The Allegro, with fresh baked bread. Is the Allegro still open? Haven't been out that way in a while.

There's a new PA Dutch restaurant in Martinsburg that's fantastic. I've been there twice, and the food, service and ambience are excellent. You get giant plates of food gauranteed to clog an artery and put a big, satisfied smile on your face, and it's very reasonably priced. They also have a clothing shop in the same building that sells Amish clothing (not tourist stuff, Amish people buy hats, boots, overalls, etc. there) as well as Carhartt and Wrangler workwear. A real rural restaurant.
Turn off Main St. at the light, like you're going to the airport, and watch for it a few blocks out, on the right, it's a huge new building.
Highly recommended.
Today, I'm headed to J-town to try Rey Azteca, which I heard of in this thread.------>JMS

Well, seeing as we've already got my palette jumping around,... A GOOD well-done steak with a baked potato right now sounds delicious... But so does a pepperoni pizza from Sorrento's (Baltimore), or maybe even one from King's Pizza with extra cheese up in Coalport if they're still as good

Even better, homemade peppersteak! I don't cook much, but I think 1 of these days, maybe I should to go get the ingredients together and go nuts. I'm sure my roommates wouldn't mind either

Oooh, I hope you liked Rey Azteca. If you didn't then my food cred is shot!

Hoo-boy! No complaints here at all, Rey Azteca was easily worth the drive over the mountain. The wife and I had combo's... cheese enchilada, chile poblano, fluffy Mexican rice, chicken chalupa, beef enchilada, and soft-drinks: Under $17 for both of us! The food was pretty high-quality, for those of you in Altoona, a bit better than El Campesino... and I really like El Campesino. The atmosphere was pretty boisterous, but in their defense, it was the after-church rush in a good restaurant, you can expect that. Really good meal, I've had a few of those in one week!
Thanks REDillon!
