Today Is Veteran's Day!
It's Veteran's Day. Thanks to everyone past and present who has made the sacrifice to serve our country, whether in war or peace.

I received a ton of text messages from my former Soldiers and a few VERY close friends. But yeah, sad that it's not a big deal to a lot of folks. I guess I thought it would have been packed at the parade because so many Altoona families have been "touched" by this current war. Oh, well. I suppose Black Friday might bring the crowds, though...
And thank your brother for me!

I just thought I'd share that on Veteran's Day I spent the entire day from 8 AM to 8 PM in Gettysburg paying my respects to those who had fallen and fought.
At Devil's Den, I stood with my friend overlooking "blood creek" where many soldiers had died when a 9 year old boy toted a bugle to the edge of one of the large bolders and played taps for those who had fallen. His parents were 50 yards away talking, and the few of us who were standing at Devil's Den at that moment turned and gave a moment in silence.
I just thought I'd mention this, because it gave me goosebumps. Words don't really do the moment justice.
(By the way, Gettysburg has been revamped big time since I was there last, and the visitor center, cyclorama, museums, etc are really cool now.)
