Well yeah that was true for the last few weeks that people were carried away and those posts should have probably been locked, but I didnt see much in either of these recent posts that out of hand or anything.

Just to clarify. I read the rules to try and find my own answer as to why these two topics had been locked. I didn't find one. I'm not saying there isn't one, just that I didn't notice any specific rule that explained the locking.
Unless you want to apply this one to it, "Rockpage shall have the right and sole discretion to edit, to refuse to port or to remove any content whatsoever which it finds to be in violation of the provisions hereof or which it finds in its sole discretion to be otherwise objectionable for any reason."
Which is fine.

As for a PM to the Mod, this was not a "Ban or Warning" so I felt a public inquire was acceptable. Now 20/20 leads me to believe maybe a PM would have eliminated the fodder.

Anyway, just curious.

Being a chatroom moderator myself, I have a similar clause, which is funny because basically any privately run website can do whatever it wishes as far as removing any post, user, or forum.

Why can't the mods add a "Bullshit" or "Off topic" forum for NON-musical general discussion? It takes probably 3 clicks at most.

(Yes, I know this site was created for Musician Discussions, but every forum has an off-topic subcategory...)

Because when musicians and their friends get together and talk, any subject might come up, just like this forum. You might like to say, "Hey you guys, if you're going to talk politics, you have to sit at that table over there", but we don't do that.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again... this site isn't a democracy... it's a monarchy. I pay all of the bills, and I do so to promote local music, help people, and have something cool that I can call my own. I know that we've had outstanding benefits for this site, but the proceeds have always been donated to a worthy cause.

I sort of chuckle when people take internet blabber seriously, and JP and I pretty much just try and extinguish fires. We are both doing something to give us the "warm fuzzies" when we meet someone who we've known for years, but have never met. We both hate moderating, but it needs to be done.

I get feedback sometimes about favoritism on Rockpage, and guaranteed there is going to be some. If you are a friend of mine or have ever had a positive face to face conversation with me, you are going to get away with more than the average bear. That's how a monarchy works. That may sound like I'm being an egotistical asshole, but I'm nothing of the sort. Ask anyone who knows me... I live to laugh.

I dont get it, monarchy or democracy makes no difference as all these political threads in the past were fine to let them get out of hand with the whiney little back and forth bitchfest like kids on a playgroung. Yet those were let go to run 30-40 posts of nonsense and name calling and the back and forth bullshit that went along with it. Now the election is over and some people arent happy with the outcome, political threads are not allowed at all with out any of the bullshit. (Both locked threads had none of that trash that was allowed a week ago) Sounds just like the playground shit from before, only this time its " If you dont play the game my way I will take my ball and go home" Fuck that!!!
Thats cool Ron that you take care of and pay to take care of the site and everyone here appreciates that. But dont forget without the members on here posting this would be an empty sight going nowhere. Musicians are very opinionated as everyone here knows very well, but to stop them from voicing their opinions in a country that everyone is entitled to do so because it disagrees with your opinion is just wrong.
I am sure I have pissed people off and now this thread will be locked or deleted, but I dont care as I have pissed people off for a lot less than this. But right is right and wrong is wrong no matter how you want to look at it. So go ahead and lock this one up now.

My supposition is there was a good reason both of those threads didn't vanish as did the other political threads.

'Tis possible they were locked before they got out of hand (as per usual). It would seem even those who didn't Vote for Obama agree we have seen MAJOR American History with this election...I'd even venture many feel the same way about it.

I remember reading Ron saying that after the election alot of threads were getting cleaned up, looks like that's what happened. It didn't have anything to do with who won people. If the other idiot won same thing would have happened. This is the internet, your rights may vary, read the rules.

Like I said before Neither of those posts needed "cleaned up " as there was nothing to clean up. It is just out and out censorship which is bullshit. But being that Ron is your friend I get this spun around on me. FUCK THAT!!!!
And as far as the link you put up to one of my threads. I dont make a fucking dime on that stuff as there is enough other work there that the owner doesnt need the little bit of money that comes if from it. I put the post up for the members here to see that there is somewhere local to get stuff done at good prices without getting locked into large orders like most places will lock you into to get the better price by getting huge orders. Now lets crucify me for trying to help bands out that want 10 shirts and not have to get 150 to get the good price. Thats right I am the bad guy here for giving my opinion. Whatever.
I am sure the reason this post wasnt locked was the hope someone would get on here to blast me and put me in my place. Well it didnt work because I dont really give a shit what anyone has to say about me. Never did and never will, but I still stand by my original post.
