Lost Song

Post by GUITARII »

I am looking for a tune that George Torrence and the Naturals did way... way... back. I used to listen to it as a kid and got the tune back in my head but can't find it anywhere. It's called "Mama Come Quick (and bring your lickin' Stick)"

Can anyone out there point me in the right direction?

I think the actual title is Licking Stick, not Mama Come Quick which might be why you can't find it if you are looking to download. Also, Billy Price & the Keystone Rhythm Band did a decent recording of this back in the late 70's. I think the album is called Eldorado Cafe...

James Brown did one called "Lickin' Stick", and so did Lamont Cranston, but they're not the same song. The 45 that I have is titled the way I posted last but the problem is that it is so beat up that it doesn't come out too clear. I wanted to try and find a clean cut of it.

Thanks for the tip on the title but the only thing I'm finding is the James Brown tune.... which is way different.

Thanks!

Dan:

I have the Billy Price version! See me at work!

PS: Would you have a problem with me using the SJ name for my new project? Let me know.
