Rolling Rock Town Fair...

I just came back from the Rolling Rock Town Fair, and it was pretty damn fun! and the show was excellent too. This is a little review/experience summary.

First, it was muddy!!! There was a HUGE mud slide and everybody was flingin mudd and stuff, so, hopefully you weren't wearing anything good! Typical festival food, expensive of course, $4 for a hamburger that was about the size of a McDonalds burger and $3 for a bottle of water. $5 for your choice of Rolling ROck or Rock lite...12-14 ounce cup. Layout sucked, booths and thangs seemed to be just randomly setup, but who goes there for that stuff???

BANDS!
I arrived for the last part of the Finch set. Really, nothing missed on that part. Easily distrated to the mudd events. BUT Dave from Disturbed got in a fist fight with the dude from Finch right before they went on, so sadly i missed that. Sevendust was on next, and they pounded! The mix was a little weak on the vocals, but they definately were rocking! The drummer and a member from the crowd were having a drum stick tossing contest, throwing the sticks back and forth. The stage then rotated around and Hoobastank startin jamming. I wasnt sure what to expect, but the singer and drummer were excellent. guitar hopped around a little and the bass player didnt really move. Reason crawling in the dark and out of control sounded great. Overall, they were a heck of a lot better than i thought they would be. The Crystal Methad and NERD were next, so it was a good time to get beer and food. Disturbed hit the stage and were pretty slamming. they probably had the best overall mix of the night. everythign was clear and tight. Played all their hits, better than i thought too. Sickness and Voices were really good. Then the BIG BORE! Staind. Sound was great. Visual, yahwwhhhhhhnnnnnnnnnn. Actually, the guy right next to me was standing and then BAM! fell straight backwards unconscience!! He laid there for about 5 secs before he regained!! Especially since you knew after they were done VR was next! The guitar player reminded me of Jack Black, he stood there and just slammed and the bass player has his feet nailed down. They played all the hits and sounded good, but sooooo boring to watch! AANDDD FINALLY, Velvet Revolver hit the stage! WOWO! What a show! Definately best performance of the evening, not even a close second. Weiland was pumped! They were extremely tight and sounded great, the mix was BLAH. backing vocals were too high, and there was hardly any guitar, especially the leads!! Hardly any Slash. They started playing all their stuff from the album and just rocked the house! Dave and Slash did some shredding back and forth, pretty sweet stuff! They then played Mr Brownstone and Sex Type Thing. They ended abruptly with a Cheap Trick Surrender cover, sounded great too. VR put on one heck of show!!! My rank on performances from what i saw was:

#3 Disturbed (these two were close, but i just seemed to enjoy Sevendust more than Disturbed)

#6 Everybody else...

Time to try and get one of 8 buses for 60,000 people!!!!!

There was a prediction about Disturbed and Finch dooking it out. It had been talked about all over the radio for about a month. I guess Finch had started shit talking Disturbed right around the same time that whole Godsmack road crew beating took place. I think it was Godsmack...correct? Well anyway the press just started comparing band fights and what might happen at Rolling Rock Town Fair.

we had just missed it, but i guess 2 members from disturbed hit up finch right before they went on...ended up in like a 30 person brawl, but i dont think anybody was hurt..bad....but i would assume disturbed looked and came out on top, Dave went off during their set about kickin their ass again and again and shit... it was funny
