AC DC tix

Post by ZappasXWife »

This girl I work with is a diehard fan and tix for a show just announced at Mellon Arena are $200.00! Cheap seats are like $169.00. WTF? I hope they are not able to sell tickets because that is just greedy IMO. Jeez...

I wonder how much of that money actually makes it in to the hands of the band. Chances are that there's probably a ton of people with their hands in the cookie jar.

I agree that is alot of money to pay for not so good seats. It might be a lack of album sales that run the price up on concert tickets. I'm speaking for all concerts not just AC/DC.
The initial ticket cost is bad enough, then factor in food, drinks (which are outrageously priced as well) gas prices, toll fees, motel costs if you are staying.
Even if it's a party of 2, there can easily be $500 invested in one night of fun.
Granted there's ways to cut the costs, but it sucks to have to 'slum' it just because the ticket prices were so high.

And the weather and quality of the bands' performance is another factor/gamble.

A question you have to ask yourself, is this band really worth it to me?
Way too many bands have passed their prime as performers, therefore put on a lackluster show. Some deliver night after night for years and decades.

I have never seen AC/DC but most of the live videos I've seen on youtube and DVD have shown that they do deliver the goods. I prefer the Bon Scott era myself, but you gotta give them respect to trudging along all of these years despite what they've been through.

AC/DC are a bands that have proven successful after the loss of their frontperson and came back just as strong with 'Back in Black' which is a feat in itself that not too many other bands can accomplish.

My fav albums are 'High Voltage' B.Scott era, and 'Flick of the Switch' of the post B.Scott era.

Fav AC/DC lyrics are from "Those about to rock": "Stand up and be counted, for what you are about to receive. We are the dealers, who give you everything you need" Those lines are fuckin awesome in my opinion. I love it every time I hear it!

side note: Are these guys in the R&R hall of fame? If not they should be.

Die hard fan or not. Who would pay that much to hear tired AC/DC ?
I love 'em don't get me wrong but every show I've seen since Razors Edge has been pretty much the same. I'm glad they are still kicking like the Stones, but I'll pass.

That's outrageous. Especially a band that's only that good. I know they're legends and all but come on. Pink Floyd would be the only one band show that could be worth 2 to me. And that would have to be a real good seat.

I was just on Ticket Master and I didn't see anywhere on there that they are playing at Mellon Arena. The closest show to us is in Wilkes-Barre and tickets are $92. I would definitely consider paying $200 to see them in the burgh though.

OK here's the REAL DEAL...

I am in the fan club so I got to log in an hour earlier to get tix for the DC show last Saturday (Nov 15th show Verizon Center in DC) anyway all seats are the same exact price regardless of section $92.00, However you are limited to 2 tix and you have to pay for them by credit card .. then the day of the show you MUST present that same card along with photo ID so there is NO possible way to transfer or scalp the tix... BTW in case anyone cares I am in row 2 seat 11 and 12 !!!! ....

Anyway got another e mail today from AC/DC fan club.. 16 additional dates were added including Pittsburgh.. they go on sale Sat the 11th...(Jan 7th show)

Again tix are $92 regardless of section and there are NO hard copy of the tix being sent out..

You MUST present the credit card you paid for them along with a photo ID the day of the show....

Pretty cool I think.. Tix are cheap and there's no way to scalp them....

BTW I had this discussion with my girlfriend as to why $92 is CHEAP... When I first saw AC/DC in 1979 tix were about $14.00 and I made $5.00 an hour so about 3 hours pay for a tix... 29 years later I make $30.00 an hour and tix are $92.00 so still about 3 hours work for a Tix....''

At least that's how I sold it to my girlfriend.... either that or the $93.00 would have been spent on something lame like the cable bill and I would not get to see AC/DC for the 19th time !!! hehe....

Peace, Tood

Oh yea.. because I belong to the fan club I'm eligable to get tix to a secret club gig TBA somewhere here on the East coast to a crowd of 500 closest fans..

Here's a copy of the Fan Club E mail sent today

For Those About To Rock,

AC/DC's Black Ice Tour just got even bigger, with the addition of 16 North American dates stretching into 2009. But it's their smallest gig of them all that has fans buzzing like never before.

On October 26 , AC/DC will roll into an East Coast town under the cover of night and rock a secret club show to get the tour started right and they want their biggest fans to be there with them, stomping feet, pumping fists and straining vocal chords with each beat of the drum.

Want in? Here's how you can claim your spot :

Tell us how badly you want to attend this secret club show, and what you'd do to make it happen . Would you drive 500 miles? How about 1000? Would you get the ticket stub tattooed on your arm? Would you put on a schoolboy uniform and duck-walk through your office? If you can catch our judge’s eye, we'll get you hooked up with the hardest ticket of the decade. State your case passionately, clearly, and in under 96 words (36 + 24 + 36, if you know what we mean ), and you could be heading somewhere on the East Coast for the AC/DC concert of a lifetime.

This contest is for members of the AC/DC Fan Club only. Log-in to take part .

Of course, there's plenty of other chances to catch AC/DC live in the coming months with the addition of new 2008 and 2009 tour dates. Members of the AC/DC Fan Club enjoy special access to tickets for every show from a grouping of reserved tickets not available to the public.

I won tix to see them practice the night before the Wilkes Barre show and with I-99 open it took about 2 hours to get to the Verizon Center...

I have yet to make it to a concert in Pittsburgh in less than 2 1/2 hours so I think Wilkes Barre is my new fav concert spot....
