A New Beginning...
A New Beginning...
It's time to make it official...
Local music will continue to be heard on this area's radio airwaves on Sunday nights. As has been hinted on other threads, I have been invited to bring my local music program over to a new home - Rocky 104.9!
The program's name will change as we mark the beginning of its new life. The new show will be called the "Homegrown Rocker." It will make its official debut on Rocky on Sunday night, Oct. 12 (my birthday!).
During the rest of Steeler football season, the program will air from 9 to 11 PM. (The show would be pre-empted whenever the Steelers play Sunday night games; however, they don't have any other Sunday night games scheduled for this season.) Once the Steelers finish, the show will return to the 8 to 10 PM time slot it enjoyed on its former radio home.
There will be a few changes and tweaks to the show (not as many live band guests to start), but it will still have features that its former incarnation had, such as Local Music News, CD reviews, etc. And of course, it will be two hours of local and regional music.
I will be posting a schedule of guests and specials through the end of the year, after I verify with the guests previously scheduled on the old program.
I want to extend a big thanks to Tommy Edwards at Rocky for allowing local music to continue to be a part of the radio airwaves on Sunday nights, and I look forward to the "Rocker's" metamorphosis into its new life beginning Oct. 12.
And again, big thanks to everybody here on Rockpage for your support of the show - you definitely made a big impact in helping to guarantee the program's future!

That's great news.
I was kinda hoping that you were going to do internet radio.
You still won't be able to say our name on the radio.
D'oh!
But a huge congrats to you Jim

I would. I trip over myself when I answer the phone at work and say my department's name. But then I guess that's why I don't have a career in radio.
Congrats on the new gig, Jim! Are you just doing a local music show or are you going to be a full-time jock with the station?

JP,
Congratulations!!! I would have posted a response to your previous thread (about losing the Q94 job), but Clint pretty much summarized my feelings to the point where i was searching for a Kleenex
Anyway, I had no doubt that you would land on your feet, and joining up with Tommy at Rocky 104 is such a natural fit.....I'm happy for you, and thank you for your literary expertise and tireless dedication to the local and national rock and roll scene.....see you at the JP tribute show, which should be "Lights Out in Greenwood"

Congratulations, Jim!!! That is AWESOME news!!!
You know, I always thought Tommy Edwards was pretty decent, but hearing this news,... Well, I owe him a fair bit more respect for this move. Thanks to Mr. Edwards!
I'm glad to know that JP is gonna be back on the air! Plus, with Rocky's better signal, I'll be able to jam to local insanity at work! Voot!!!
Hmm... Now if only I could get a few other things on an upswing, I'd be going nuts with happiness right now. Oh well... We'll see. Heh
