I got a Buzz...and not a good one.

I got a yamaha BB300 that I have played since 1986. I never noticed the bass buzzing before because I played with a pick and my hand stayed fixed on the bridge. This is a ground issue I believe, but I can't track it down. It just has P-bass pick-ups and one volume knob/ one tone knob. When my hands are on it it is quiet... This is my number one bass I need it working. Any ideas would be really great, just tell me what to do. Thanks

Is it all original, with no mods done to it?
If not then I'd say run another ground wire from your bridge to the volume pot and solder it to the back of the pot.
Also double check the existing wires to be sure they are getting proper contact. It def sounds like a ground prob to me.

Check your cables for shorts also.
