Moral of the story...better radio = more listeners = more advertising money! The corporate white collar folk have NO CLUE what we want. FM radio sucks and it's getting worse. It's tough having a local band promoted show on a classic rock station. The Backyard Rocker would do so much better on a hard rock based FM station. Most of the Backyard listeners probably aren't into most of what is being played during JP's show...just my thoughts. It's just bad all around for the music industry. I haven't listened to FM radio in almost four years. I'm tired of classic rock station after classic rock station, cotton candy teeny bullshit, active rock radio stations are playing guys who sing like girls and wear girly jeans...wtf. Where is the real balls out rock radio? Wait...I have that answer...satellite radio.

JP...please go to SIRIUS...you'll rule the airwaves!

First to everyone who has responded: Thank you for your support; it is much appreciated.

I do have a request...While I appreciate everyone here taking up for me, please do not take it out on Diane or Adam or the other staff at Q94. The decision was made from above, and the other employees are victims of the decision as much as me. They are fearing for their jobs as well, and the "Eff Q94" trashing could cost them their employment as well. I do not want that to happen. Diane and Adam especially have been fighting in my corner to keep me on, so they do not deserve the mean-spiritedness.

While I'm disappointed in the decision, I can't dwell on it, and have to move forward. Make lemonade from lemons.

As a professional, I don't think he can speak up and ask for things like a petition. Right now I'm sure he's considering all of his options. But in these 100 threads, he knows we'll back him up - like he's done for the local music scene for 25 years.

Whatever route is decided we must go in, count me in for any help or support that is needed.
I wasnt sure where to post, because there are quite a few different threads on this subject. Once we do get a game plan, please start it off in a fresh thread to save on confusion.

JP, you know that we are here for ya!! It's awesome that everyone is stepping up to the plate w/ all these ideas good job guys!!

Perhaps I should have been a little more elaborate. I'm more or less wondering, if we petitioned, would JP want to go back? If he cant go back, would he want to do that 'online backyard rocker' idea?

Of course as a professional he cant say 'omg, petition for me!', but we really need to know if thats what he wants.

Reminds me of the southpark where big gay al got kicked out of scouts, they fought to get him back in the entire episode as soon as they heard the news, but it wasnt really what he wanted.

I completely agree with what you've said JP. I'm just sure alot of people heard the news and got mad and didnt really know who to blame or be angry with. Q94 was probably the first thing to come to their minds.. ya know?

This needs to be handled delicately.

Yeah we all want it, but Jack Daniels isn't going to help this situation.

What if we petition another radio station to pick up Jim and BYR? Why the loyalty to WBXQ?

Just a thought.

WWJD? What would Joe do? He'd build a guitar, and it would be a kickass guitar, but we'd all just sort of look at it because we're right handed. What does that have to do with anything? ------>JMS

benefit

Post by chuckmehh »

Could we have a benefit concert for JP? He's an awesome guy and has done a lot for our band. I know we would be in for that. And what better way to reinstate the Professor than through music?

So then, what is it you really want from all the ideas we've been throwing around, Professor? We're all willing to do whatever we can to see things go the way you want them, even if we are a zealous mob

But seriously,... Do tell, what do you want from this situation at this point?

this reminds of the time when WFBG AM tried to do away back in 1976 with All Night Album because they said that there was no market for a radio show of that nature. JP was doing something like that on Sunday nights 10 until midnight. They say they advertising? Wel I even said to JP about this where that thing he does Sunday night from 10 until midnight is done all day but he told we will lose listeners which equals dollars on ads etc. I know a lot of people that do not listen to Q 94 because they play the same bullshit over and over and over..........

and they wonder why they lose advertising?
is it 4:20 yet?
