Sorry, but I'd rather be shot than support anything affiliated with Clear Channel! This monopoly has bullied the entire music industry for way too long! Don't get me started here, but this company is nothing more than power hungry tyrants who want to control everything you listen too and every concert you want to attend.

Clear Channel even bought out the new "CD On Demand" post-concert technology and is making a ton off it now. They suck.

Correct...Clear Channel does suck, but us folk here in Western PA only had Clear Channel Networks to listen to...105.9 the X. BUT...we now have 93.7 KROCK. Although, it's another damn classic/modern rock station. All I ask for is ONE good damn modern rock station. These classic rock station are everywhere. I like older music but give me stuff from my generation! Hopefully in the next few weeks when 105.7 changes over, we'll get that modern rock station!!!

Clear Channel: The largest radio ownership group/entertainment conglomerate in the entire world.

-They own over 1500 radio stations in the US alone, constantly spinning off new companies so they don't have to worry about Radio Monopoly Law. In doing this, they have cost literally thousands of radio DJs their jobs, by having talent in larger markets provide the voices you hear on the radio to smaller markets. CC also carries some of the largest syndicated shows in the nation, also taking jobs away from local personalities.

-Concert Promotions: Clear Channel owns fully or partially; or programs (books) for 99 major concert/music venues in the USA alone, including Starlake and Chevy Ampitheatre in Pittsburgh, and Hershey Star Pavilion, Tweeter Centre by the Waterfront, and The Electric Factory in Philly. Other major venues include The United Center (Chicago), FleetCenter (Boston), The Palace At Auburn Hills (Detroit), Verizon Wireless Music Center (Kansas City), Verizon Wireless Amphitheater (San Antonio), and many more. They also have several worldwide venues.
TRANSLATION: If you don't pay Clear Channel, your band ain't playing any of those arenas, no matter how big you are.

-Television: CC owns 41 Television stations, from Los Angeles to Binhamton, NY, including 2 in Harrisburg (WHP-TV and WLYH-TV). They are in the process of buying more.

You can find out more by visiting www.clearchannel.com

Let me sum it up this way: If ClearChannel moves into our area, shows like Q-94's "Backyard Rocker" and Rocky1049's "Mandatory Metal" will never exist again. ClearChannel is the biggest threat to unsigned bands in the history of music.

Toona Rock Guy just said it all! If you guys have a shread of dignity, stay away from these tyrants! Take a stand and support the bands on your level! Do you really think they are concerned with you, with everything else they are controlling these days??...NO!

Do some research before making decisions on who's behind your band. Check out www.clearchannel.com and read between the lies, or better yet www.clearchannelsucks.net. for the facts!

this has nothing to do with LL or clear channel because I'm with Jim 100%...

but, I have a question...why is it about making it? Is that the supreme goal of musicians??? I thought musicians played for the love of playing, because it's in their blood...not because they want to MAKE IT.....of course, if you can, you will but, I know personally, if I never did, I'd still play guitar 5 hours a day....just for the love of music itself...

Great post Punkinhead! Way too many bands are focused on becoming the next "big thing" and they lose themselves in the process. They end up becoming victims of a wicked industry who only cares about the next big radio hit.

But, this absolutely does tie into previous posts about Clear Channel. Sure they have billions of dollars, sure they manage and promote concert events, radio, pretty much all entertainment; HOWEVER they do it only to serve their best interests and make big bucks! They will cut the throats of any and all radio and artists who refuse to go by what they deem cool and more importantly profitable. Time and time again they have slithered out of lawsuits clearly with the intent of wanting to control what YOU see and what YOU choose to listen to, how much YOU pay to see a concert and how much the band pays THEM to perform it for you!

Like Punkinhead said, this has nothing to do with LL, just with common sense. If you value your own artistic freedom, and don't want to put a dollar sign on your creativity, then protest against this company, do not join forces with them.

P.S. - I tried to go to www.clearchannelsucks.net after just being there friday and the website is no more! Hmmmm....wonder why??

www.clearchannelsucks.net - GO THERE! Just there and it seems that by some bunk court ruling, clearchannelsucks.net had to give the website over to Clear Channel! How about that!!?? Prime example of the bully tactic this company is used to using. Theres further info about radioaid.com who seems more legit in helping indie and unsigned artists! Check it out!

Sorry this is causing so much conflict. Lost Ledny and their management had nothing to do with the Clear Channel thing. The views of LL and their management are like most of the posts above. I disagree with Clear Channel and their monopolizing way. This "signing up" that was done, was done without our knowledge. It was done by someone just trying to help Lost Ledny without really knowing what Clear Channel was all about. Thanks...Jason.

Yes, I manage Lost Ledny. I had nothing to do with the Clear Channel post. It was a friend of the band just trying to help out without any of our knowledge. Kinda like a street teamer just trying to do what they can. Only this time, this person wasn't too well informed about Clear Channel and how everyone HATES them and how they are slowly taking over what can and can't be played on the radio. I'm glad it's getting the rage out about Clear Channel, but I'm upset that it's at Lost Ledny's expense. Like I said earlier...myself nor the band had any knowledge about this person signing us up on that web site. Being associated with Clear Channel isn't at the top of my list of ways to get Lost Ledny reconized and out to the masses.

Did anyone see that Clear Channel is sponsoring The Warped Tour. WTF is up with that?

Check this out...Aerosmith/Cheap Trick tour was sponsored by Clear Channel. They will play Aerosmith on their stations but not Cheap Trick who released a new CD last summer (probably their best material in 15 years). Any company that picks songs they will play on their staions by sitting in a conference room and not giving them a chance on air is not worth my time. The only Cheap Trick songs they will play is "I Want You To want Me"and "The Flame". They are not the only band that this has happened to either, I heard of many more.

Jaybird, I for one, would never hold this against Ledney. I think that the content of this post has been good. At least some people who never heard of Clearchannel have now.

It is important to do the right things to get your band into the spotlight. Things like kicking ass at every show, writing material with heart, practicing your craft with maniacal intesity, these things work. There has to be a line somewhere that says "Wow I just sold my soul for a shot to attain material wealth and the favor of a fickle public!". I think that line needs to be heeded.

Clearchannel sucks because they feel they know what people want to hear. They will only allow songs that have been deemed "potentially popular" to hit the waves. I prefer hearing all of it and picking what I like for myself!

I still want to see Lost Ledney, I haven't had the chance yet.
