Dropping a bombshell...
I'm floored, positively floored.
A long time ago, former station owner, Ed Sherlock and I had a good conversation at the old J&S Music store. I told him I was one of those guys who used to patch old radios together and experiment with antennae and listen to dozens of classic stations late at night. He asked me something very fortunate, I think. He asked how I would improve his station.
I told him he needed to hire Jim, this guy I knew, because Jim was the most knowledgeable person I knew regarding Q-94's new format, classic rock. I told him Jim's a writer for the PA Musician, and thus very familiar with local music. When I told him Jim's a radio personality, too, he asked me to write down the name for him.
Honestly, it was quite awhile until Jim got hired, but I'm still thankful I gave him that name, whether or not it actually helped him get hired.
That said, FM radio is officially dead. I only have WPSU left on my FM radio now, and usually only on the weekends for the Folkshow.
This really bums me out.------->JMS

How about some telephone calls and emails to the station in protest of this decision? We can't let this happen without a fight, together we have a strong voice as well.

If you call - be polite. A bunch of obnoxious calls will backfire for sure.CCdrums wrote:How about some telephone calls and emails to the station in protest of this decision? We can't let this happen without a fight, together we have a strong voice as well.

Jim, I've known (and listened) to you for your entire career at Q94. Your voice in local radio will be missed so much, but I know you'll stay deep into the local and regional live music scene and I'm thankful for that! Man, I'll miss the closet chronicles, that is while I could pick the station up clearly before the transmitter switcheroo. I really hope the owners appreciated and thanked you for the many years you gave them. And finally, if I may be so bold, what do you think the reason(s) for loss of station revenue are? Hope to see you soon.
Rick

Jim, I just read this post, I want to echo what everyone else has said already, and wish you the best of luck in whatever career moves you make. They do not know what they are losing!
There comes a time in life to reflect on you past and your career, and perhaps you already are, and you are deciding to travel a different road and experience new things, or perhaps remain where your past and where you heart is and continue to travel that road.
Either or, you are a smart man and you have the ability to do whatever you want in life. I wish you the best and I thank you for all that you've done for us and the musical community over the years.

Holy Sh*t!?
Well, pretty much what other people on here have been saying: It can only get better from here. I've been listening to you since long before the changeover to classic rock(scared of but enjoyed the irony of 3 days of Christmas music in June for the change) You are force to be reckoned with on and off the air. Better things are coming you way.
Keep us posted on how/where it's going. We're all looking out for you, we owe you at least that much.
I've taken your reviews and critiques to heart over the years. They've pushed me to be a better musician and a better listener.

Well, I never thought that Q94 would sink like this. I always expected change, but this...I boycott. I will never listen to the station that doesn't have the voice of "THE PROFESSOR" Jim Price. Twenty-Five years of kick Ass Rock n' Roll!! I can't even begin to think of the cruisin' around and making out with chicks that I have done with Jim Price on the radio. My god, my wife is shedding tears, "What about the Backyard Rocker?" I assured her that anything Jim Price does from this point will greater.
Jim, your passion for the local music scene has built you a following that can NEVER be shaken. You have, I believe one of the greatest tolerances ever built up. You have to, you actually came to see Skeezer and I play...LOL!!! Anyway, GOOD LUCK Jim, this just may be the occurance that makes you what you really are...A Living Legend.

This is not only a sign of radio changing for the worse, but America itself changing for the worse.
...I just don't know what to say...
I have a belief that there's a silver lining to all of this.
