Some of those I like, others I could forget. I do find it odd that stupid songs always become hits. I think a lot of it has to do with the person performing it. For example; If alan jackson, tim mcgraw, or george strait would release a version of mary had a little lamb (not the version by SRV, which was awesome by the way) - It would be the biggest number one song in country music history. Only because they performed it.
Music Rocks!

Hey, John,
I think My Ding-A-Ling by Chuck Berry used to be on this list. I guess there must be some newer songs that people voted for that are worse.
Here are a few more bad "hits" that I believe used to be on this list.
Gimme Dat Ding by The Pipkins
How Do You Do? - Mouth & McNeal
Watching Scotty Grow - Bobby Goldsboro
Chirpy, Chirpy Cheep Cheep - Middle Of The Road

Coincidentally, when I was driving to the York Fair this past Friday afternoon, I tuned in a Carlisle AM station that was playing several of the 70's hits listed here. Some of the tunes made me cringe when they came on, but I left the station on because I hadn't heard this stuff in such a long time. And admittedly, I knew what each song was within about two or three notes into it...

What's that, 25 out of 80 that I actually like. I'm so weird sometimes. Man, some of my least favorites are on there, though. "Mercedes Benz." The original was okay, drunken bar-flies' versions (all 10,000 performances I've had to endure) ... not so much. "The Warrior" too. Ee-yikes, every girl singer has tortured that one at some point, I think, and it hella-sucked to begin with. I never met a guy who could even stand that song, so it must be a girl-thing.--->JMS

Hey thanks Duaine, I did not know who did that song....I listened to it..not as bad as I thought......of course I havn't heard that for years...
The song that drove me bonkers was "Honey" by Bobby Goldsboro.
I was painting the outside of a house next door to a bar here in Portage and
someone inside kept playing that song all day...probably 20 times. I couldn't get that song out of my head for weeks.....I thought I was going over the edge, day and night that thing kept playing in my head...never thought it would go away.

I agree that there are some turds on that list. On the other hand, some of those songs are favorites of mine. I would've been proud to have been on wax with them. At least those people tried & had a "hit" even though some people would say they deserve to be on this type of list. People have every right to their opinion & music people always open up themselves to this type of scrutiny. Me, I'd take a "hit" as long as I though it was good & did my genuine best no matter what some critics thought. So then take that to the bank & cash it.
I've drank enough beer to float a battleship! Go ahead and Rock & Roll all night if you can but don't party every day!
