A ride for Jeffy

Post by LMisCheerful »

Hey Everybody!! How are ya doin? Well I said that I would keep you posted on the ride that we are putting together for Jeffy.....It's finally getting started. This is what we have planned sooo far....so please we need all the help in every way! We appreciate any comments or ideas!!! But, like I said, this is what we have so far: The ride (as of now) is going to be Sept. 25th. The run will hit some of these bars: Magoo's, Glenn's Place, Beer Bellies, Aragon (? w/parking), Terri's (? w/parking) a bar in Everett that Jeffy liked (not sure what the name is) and we will end at Campbell Hill. It is a Poker Run, so we can only have 5 bars (or stops), and Campbell Hill could be the last stop. The bands we have for the end of the night is: Half Tempted, Bandito's and Felix and the Hurricanes. Now we need donations from local companies. So if you could, please post some ideas so we can get started on them. Like I said, I never did anything like this and we need all the help that we can get. This ride is going to be an annual event. The future rides will be closer to his anniversary. Everything is up in the air w/this untill we get some ideas and comments from everyone.
Thanks sooo much for your time and PLEASE respond ASAP!!

If you want, fax the info over to Rocky 104.9FM, and we can help promote it as a public service announcement. The only restriction is that we can't promote it as a "Poker Run", we (by law) can only say "Motorcycle Run". (We can't legally advertise games of chance.) Make sure and include all the info, including contact names and numbers. Call 941-9800 and ask for the Rocky fax #.

I'm sure that Q-94 would help too...

A couple of ideas:

1. Could everyone who attends the event be given a ticket for raffle drawings during the night. I could donate some promotional CDs, DVDs, etc. from where I work, and with a semi-formal type of letter, someone could go from business-to-business to collect any kind of items, certificates for pizzas, etc. from area businesses. Charitable events hit us up all the time. You'd be amazed what you can get for a good cause. Or tickets could be SOLD at the event (to help defray any costs only...not for anyone's profit) for drawings for prizes, 50/50 etc.

2. Perhaps those that have a picture or two of Jeffy from over the years (I have a few) could bring them to add to a large picture-frame-type display that could be assembled that day. Or someone could collect all pictures in advance and put something together for everyone to see.

I'll be there with Half Tempted, and glad to help however I can.

Great Ideas Big Jim!! Thanks! We do need some donations for door prizes!! Wonderful!

Yeah, and if anyone has pics that they would like us to use, you can either email me, stop where I work: Wick Copy Center or even mail them to me and I'll make copies and mail them back.

Thanks!

Ok, now for all you people who wants to help, we are meeting at the wing off this Thursday. Now it's nothing big and you don't hafta attend, but just letting everyone know that we'll be discussing Jeffy's ride. It's soo hard to get people together, so we'll do it where everyone will be. I'm not sure where we will be, but I'm sure you won't be able to miss us!
Plus if you want to bring pics of Jeffy, please do so and put them in an envelope w/your address on it. I will make copies and send them back. Also, if you can give us more ideas for donations, that would be great too! Or if you just wanna come and hang out and listen.....That's cool too.
Alrighty then, hope to hear from ya and see ya Thurs!!!!
Chow!

I'll be the one left standing behind you, looking the other way as you glance back at what you've lost.

"Jeffy" Is Jeff Showalter. He worked for Yellow and was a WONDERFUL person!! He greeted everyone with a hug and never had a bad thing to say bout anyone. He passed away this past April on the 18th from a motorcycle accident in Juniata. The reason we are talking bout it on rock pages is that Jeffy was one the biggest local bands follower.
