Keith downloaded this about 2 weeks ago and sent it to me, I've been rockin out with my cock out in my car since then.

Cyanide is my fav I think, it's closer to their old sound. Keith likes that one too. I couldnt believe that we actually agreed on something music related for once.

Did you buy this new Scott? If so, does it say in the liner notes what amps they used on this? I heard it was their old Mesa's, but I'm not sure.

I do know that Kirk got his old Gibson V's out for this album, and his Jackson Rhoads. I guess to recapture some magic of yore?

I just picked it up today at work (Hot Topic). We got to hear it a few weeks ago and I preached it ever since. I'm so glad they got rid of Bob Rock and went back to their roots.

I was into Load and Re-Load just because it was more of a Southern Rock based sound, but nothing beats good old thrashing Metallica.

A PLUS PLUS to the boys in black on this effort.

As far as listing their gear on the liner notes...No Dice....

But I'm sure you can find it somewhere if you google long enough!!!

I think the version that me and Keith got was the un mixed version cause the drums are clipping like all hell, and it just seems like the over all mix needs more refined to me.
I might actually buy this album just cause I like it, and to hear what it sounds like on the actual cd version.

I like it too. It's not amazing, but it is great for a bunch of dudes mostly pushing 50.

The Cd does sound better obviously than what was on torrent sites but the mix is still kinda rough. The drums do kinda clip and the bass at times is overkilled by the the guitars. The mix has no warmth to it.

I like most of it, and it's got some awesome riffs, hope they take it a step further on the next one if there is another.

This record is the culmination of so many things that they've been trying to incorporate for awhile -except now they've actually found the right feel for it. They've somehow grown and rediscovered their roots at the same time. Obviously, bringing in Rubin was the way to go. I really like it. Kick ass. Oh yeah, Kirk Hammett finally remembered that he's one of the best soloists in the history of Metal too.

I saw the video for the first time last night, which was the first time I had a really good chance to hear the latest single. I'm half & half on it.
The first half of the song, I didn't care for. It sounded to me like re-Reload. Then Hetfield shut up and the band took over... and that half was great, like the old days sort of. I quit getting excited about them by the late 90's, but at least it has moments of clarity, outside the usual self-absorption.------->JMS

It definitely renewed my love and respect for Metallica.

Sound-wise at first I was a little let down, but I realized that the crushing gear they used for Lightning & Puppets is probably long gone and fried. After quite a few spins and a lot less criticizing I've really come to love this album. Cyanide has to be my favorite too...in fact, I was figuring it out not long after I got the CD.

Just about every I've talked to said they like this album, which doesn't surprise me really. It's nice that 'tallica put out a good one, cause it was long over due IMO.

Judas Kiss is a good song Edgecrush, I like that too. Also #3, cant remem the name right now, but it has a nice groove to it.
That seems to be the overall feel of the album is slow/groovy shit, and it's nice & catchy too.

There's a few with some off beat type rhythms and alternate picking that kind of throws me off a little bit.
Lotts of Slayer-ish rhythms and picking which are probably brought on by Rubin I'm sure.

ive only heard a few songs, its pretty old school for as much as ive heard. i really enjoy the thrashy parts they've reinstated into their style. Long overdue, and sounds 10 times better than st anger.
