LHC = End of world?
Since they are "warming it up" for a real collision soon, what do you guys think?
Doomsday device or just a really fun thing to do while your drunk at college?
I put it at around 1:10^10e33 odds that we end the world with it.

Oh, yeah, Frank, the LHC people are mostly Swiss. They're always ahead of schedule.
My biggest question is this: How does it help with pornography?
Many of your biggest tech advances over the past 25 years have been popularized only when they were used to view, consume, or otherwise access porn. VHS, and VCR's in general, satellite TV, and the very internet we're using... well, let's just say I don't spend very much time looking up baseball scores from 1926.
With any luck, the Large Hadron Collider will further our knowledge of porn on a sub-atomic level, and we will find that our entire universe is just a single atom in a spooge molecule in a single frame of an infinite celestial money-shot. It boggles the mind and tickles the boo-boo.
So, how does a twisted mind get from particle physics to porno? Well, first, you'd have to know me. Then you'll get that I read the phrase, "Higgs Boson," and thought it said, "Bosom."

That is quite an assessment there lol. It would appear that all you said is some what true. I did some research in college on the porn industry and technology and found that with every "newer" technology, porn used it to it's advantage, starting with the betamax (which was also called Pornomax because of them being only used for just that purpose) to modern php, mysql, java, and web designs.songsmith wrote:Oh, yeah, Frank, the LHC people are mostly Swiss. Maybe when the world does end; the cockroaches can use it to there advantage ??
Music Rocks!
Rob,
Might cause some problems at first, but they have a sheriff that somehow
keeps this stuff from causing global destruction...oh...wait...that's "Eureka".
Ohhhh....fudge....Only I didn't say "fudge".

The Large Hardon Collider is causing hardons worldwide!
Scientists state that the colliding of hardons will cause sperm Tsunamis.
You know that show is bases on real shit that people post on MySpace!! And It's all part of a master-plan that Tom, (who is secretly the Anti-Christ) has hatched to get people to believe he really exist...VENTGtr wrote:Rob,

I'd suggest setting aside a few minutes or so and watching this:

I did. Excellent explanation, better than the TV shows I've seen on the subject over the last few years. Brian Cox is very adept at explaining the whole thing in terms anyone can understand.
I'm sleeping pretty well... I don't think the end of the world is nigh... well, not because of this, anyway. It's been explained that the LHC isn't doing something that doesn't happen billions of times a second per square centimeter all over (and through) the planet. The LHC is just doing it in a place where it can be measured.
I can remember in the 60's or early 70's when they were afraid that underground nuclear testing would crack the planet's crust, and we'd all sink into the magma. I was in 1st grade, maybe, and I saw a crack in our driveway, and thought, "Oh, man, it's starting."
It wasn't.
It was really fun and scary thinking about it, though.---->JMS

My boss found this and I had to share it. I'm not one for lists usually, but it's kind of funny.

If you'd like to keep track of whether or not the LHC has destroyed the earth yet, here's a site with handy updates:

I just sh*t my pants.

I think "Jimi Hatt" would suck as a band name.
