Yup...you guys continually prove how petty and jealous you are of these athletes that have more than you... But that's actually pretty natural and common to react that way.

But to cheer someone tearing their ACL??? That's pretty low/bad/mean.

And if you want this post to die, stop posting. I won't debate myself.

You obviously didn't read the whole post (it's long, I know)... If you did, you'd know I know it's part of the game and that I don't think anyone should feel sorry for Brady.

But it's still a torn ACL, and I just don't think an injury should be celebrated by cheering, "Yessssssss!!!!" - which is what started this thread.

Go ahead and say it. You're going to get lots of support from the people who posted on this page.

However, I like the company I am in when I look at the people who agree with me. For some reason, NONE of these guys are happy about him being out, and none are cheering about his pain...

"When you lose a marquee player like that, the whole league suffers. People like to watch the stars in this league. That's who they come to see. People like to watch great quarterbacks play. It was that way with Joe Montana and other guys. You hate to see those guys go down." - Chiefs coach Herman Edwards.

"I mean, it's the sport. Tom Brady goes down - who would have thought? Obviously, I'm not Tom Brady, but it's a tough sport that we play." - Seahawks wide receiver Nate Burleson, who also suffered a season-ending injury on Sunday.

"It's terrible. You never want to see that happen to a guy, especially to a guy like him who's really kind of the face of the league in terms of professionalism, winning championships, doing the right things off the field. It's tough to see a guy like that go down." - Saints quarterback Drew Brees.

"Now there's only one Tom Brady. It's very unfortunate for the Patriots and the league to lose a marquee player like that." - Titans coach Jeff Fisher.

"He is no doubt an incredible player and I'd never minimize the impact that he has on any given game. But being part of New England and having a lot of seasons there, and a lot of seasons where there were injuries to key players - and I know the quarterback position is different - one of the things Bill (Belichick) and his staff have always been able to do is create a plan to win the game that week and overcome those things." - Jets coach Eric Mangini.

"You hate to see anybody go down. I was watching when they showed it and you felt like 'That's a knee injury.' You're just hopeful that maybe it'll be like Dallas Clark's injury a couple of years ago where it's not as bad as it appears. We were at that point with Dallas two years ago and four or five days later, it looked like he was going to be able to go and that's what happened.

"It's tough. You just hate to see that with anyone, one of your players or anybody in the league." - Colts coach Tony Dungy.

"I am glad he wasn't number 10 on this team. I know what a quarterback, especially a quarterback of the caliber of Tom Brady, means to a team and in his case, what it means to the NFL. He was our MVP last year and he is well-respected around this league not only as a great football player, but as a good human being, too. I wish Tom the best and I wish him a speedy recovery." - Giants DE Justin Tuck.

"You never want to see that happen to a guy. I'm obviously one of the biggest Tom Brady fans. I'd say Tom Brady and Brett Favre are my two favorite quarterbacks, and any time you have a chance to watch them live play or play against them, you want to do that." - Bills QB Trent Edwards.

"I think with New England, for me, I say they're still a very good team because they have so many other pieces and they're well-coached and they've got a good defense. And so you never know. Matt Cassel, he didn't turn the ball over, he managed the game. So you never know with New England. That's their style of football.

"To me, they did the same thing when (Drew) Bledsoe went out. Everybody was saying the same thing. Then Tom Brady comes in, nobody knows who he is. Our first game, I remember, I was a rookie. And it was like, 'Who is this guy?' And he beats us. So you never know." - Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson.

You guys are acting like ACL repair is fun...

Image

No sports related injury should ever be celebrated. If you can look at a guy in pain (like this) and cheer, and honestly be happy about him needing surgery to walk normal again...well, you know my opinion on this... You're a dick.

If you're simply happy about the fact that your favorite team in the AFC has an easier time to the playoffs and superbowl now that Brady is out for the season - then what I'm saying does NOT apply to you.

Of course.

But the fact is, you're attacking me and this "amazingly unpopular ideal" because it is fun for you - even though most of you (more than likely) agree with me that injuries should not be cheered. But nobody is supporting me or the idea, because it's more fun to post trash.

Remember my other post, putting an injury in the context of a musician in a band you don't like?

http://rockpage.net/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=19642

...well, you ALL refuse to answer the 2 basic questions. Even after I posted what refusing to answer them tells any intelligent person following this thread:
JakeWilliams wrote: EVERYONE IS AVOIDING ANSWERING THE QUESTIONS ABOUT THE SCENARIO IN THIS POST BECAUSE IT WILL CONFIRM WHAT I'VE BEEN SAYING FOR DAYS.

OF COURSE everyone will answer them as I did when you describe the people involved as musicians instead of athletes... Because none (or at least very few) of you actually wish injury, pain, agony etc. on other human beings. I am just trying to get you to admit it...
I'm not sure you get why this is so fun for me. I *KNOW* I have every one of you "Brady haters" trapped. If you answer the questions about how you'd feel if this happened to a fellow musician, You either have to admit your a dick, or admit your a hypocrite and you feel the same way I do about "cheering injuries to other people".

AND I KNOW NONE OF YOU WILL DO THAT!

Why? Because it takes an adult to admit when they're wrong. And I'm not dealing with too many adults here.

LOL! It's f-ing hilarious for me to follow how you are all trying to twist things so you don't look as bad... You just keep attacking and calling me a pussy, hoping people will not see that you're defending cheering and laughing when an athlete goes down.

Try standing up and cheering in a any stadium when a major injury happens live, even to a less popular player than Tom Brady - like TO or Chad Johnson. Do you think the crowd of people around you would join in? Not even in Oakland. You'd be lucky to leave the stadium alive.

Because football fans do not cheer about major injuries to athletes. Ass-holes do. Sorry, I forgot: petty and jealous ass-holes.

slackin@dabass wrote:you know, i bet it's hard to believe, but i've been called worse by lesser people than you.
PS. Maybe you worded it wrong, but there is no way I can take this as an insult. I would have to assume "lesser people" have called you worse things. "Lesser people" do that... It's what makes them "Lesser people".
