Favorite Beatle
Since this is a music forum, I figured that this would be an interesting poll.
Despite McCartney being a huge influence on me as a bass player, George is definitely my favorite. While Paul and John are obviously highly regarded as exceptional songwriters, I always thought that George was also an extremely gifted writer and was often overshadowed by Lennon/McCartney. There's also something simple and understated in his guitar playing. I almost hear a Chet Atkins influence, even though I don't know if Harrison ever explicity stated Atkins as an influence. I enjoy his solo material the best out of all four of The Beatles. Plus, my all-time favorite Beatles song, If I Needed Someone, is a George tune. Even moreso, Eric Clapton co-wrote my favorite Cream number, Badge, with George.
Thoughts?
Edit: According to this website, Chet Atkins was indeed an influence on George Harrison. http://www.countrymusichalloffame.com/s ... spx?cid=99

Seriously, though, it's Ringo. #1, he's a drummer, and #2, he knows that he's mediocre and he's okay with it. There's a brilliant interview with him in Modern Drummer magazine from last year, and he had some real pearls of wisdom, it's a great read. He gave his son Zack one lesson, said he showed Zack how to do the basic "boom...bop...boom boom bop" type beat, and said, "Well, that's all the old man's got. Get going and find a good drummer to teach ya more!" Zac's not doing too badly, being the drummer for The Who.
Dood...

i'ts not that i don't like'em bro, just my least favorite. based on my perception of them, he seemed the least coolest. i mean he thought yoko was cool for christ sake. i'd have to be a little leary on his decision making process after that whopper display of bad jucgement
george would be cool to sit around and jam with
paul would be cool to burn one with
ringo......... well that would just be fun i think.
john.....well i just think of yoko tagging along and i'd have to make something up like a home emergency or something and tell him i'd be right back and never show up.

john lennon was the most talented song writer because it all came from with in. i love all the beatles, they are part of the rock n roll foundation next to buddy holly, and elvis presley. i am a huge beatles fan, and i know a lot about them. John lennon didn't make bad decisions he lived a tortured life. read a book musicians you might learn some thing.

I generally expect people to not bother posting. I know! I know! Not posting in a thread you don't care about is a pretty novel concept.KyleMayket wrote:where's the "who cares" button?

the best pick up line to use is ," hi-how-are-ya, hi-how-are-ya!" but you have to say it very rhythmically, and emphasize it.bassist_25 wrote:Well, as long as you're hooking up with fine-assed natives, I see no problem with that.
I was watching a TV show about Lewis and Clark, and I forget which one it was, but one of them was a complete idiot and wanted to name all this stuff they discovered absolutely stupid names, and the other would have to veto him and give it the names it has today...pretty interesting how it actually went down
