Good Times at the Reeseman Family Benefit

Post by Hawk »

It was an idyllic day. The sunny day set the mood for a pleasant atmosphere and very cool musician camaraderie.

The musicians worked hard when on stage, and I love to see them up there giving their all. Every band sounded great !

Thanks to the guys running the PA ! And thanks to everyone involved in organizing the special event !

Personally, I just had a great time meeting and talking to everyone with great music going on all day long.

If you missed it - kick yourself. If you were there - you know what I'm talking about.

WOW! Everyone was kickass!!! Such a variety of music and everyone loved it all. Altogether we raised $850.00 for Cathy and her family.
We had over $800.00 in overhead (food/Beverages/Porta john etc.) that was all paid for too!!! I definitely learned some things with this and next time we'll be able to lessen the initial cost of throwing one of these.

Let me talk about the music:

Condemned Existence- MOTHERFUCKING CONDEMNED EXISTENCE!! Yeah it ruled!!! I still don't know how such spite comes out of Andrew. He's the nicest guy ever. "Hey how will these people be if I cuss?" LOL!!! Keith- I hope you got some Hydration and felt better Bro.

The Flame Sky- More great people/musicians loved the covers, LOVED LOVED LOVED the originals! "THe Creature doesn't care if you like it." haha.

The Hawks- This was the Beneficiary's Personal Favorite. It was great to see a big smile on her face during your whole set. People were talking about you guys all night. I hope your keyboard player got home on that tire

Kevin Price- It was funny to see the tough guys in the crowd trying not to sing along to every rose has its thorn. A little kid actually told me he heard "your song" on the radio after that. :D GOOD TIMES!!!

Parasomnia- I didn't know Fucking Lurch was in this band? AND J?? Hell yeah!!! Can't go wrong. Kyle, The bodies intro was Killer dude. YUSSS!!!

Harlo/Heavy Radio- That was some "Out there" stuff, and I mean that in a very good way. Thanks for helping out. and playing later even though you were the first dude there. I wanna catch your whole band sometime for sure.

Fedup- We had a blast!!! I am very lucky to be jamming with such cool, talented dudes. Hey Scott, "They fuckin like us." Funniest thing I heard all night.

Anointing The Sick- Hey you old Metalheads- Keep an eye on this band!
Some of these guys aren't even out of High School and they POUND!!!

The Side Effects- Drunk Punk+ Rotating Lineup+ The whole crowd singing along= Good Times. Who cares if it was off time and out of tune. Not me!!!

Moxie- I could not have picked a better band to close the night. You guys had the crowd jumping from the start. I didn't stick around for the whole thing(two days of running/jumping through hoops/playing caught up to me and I'm at work here at 9 am sunday morning :x ) but people were flipping shit to every song you played.

Special Thanks to JD(Moxie) for the lights and big ass speakers,Pat Flaw (Side Effects),And Roman Dell(Fedup) for running the PA like champs all night!

The downsides- The high cost of overhead, Being dead tired, Someone stabbing the tire of a car parked along the road. (I really don't think it was anyone at the party. I think it was the neighbor kids).

All in all it was a great night. I got to meet some more RP Alum. and like always, they were great people.

Thanks everyone!

i got another email from Keith to post so here it is-

Thanks Brian for such kind words about Condemned!! We had a great time playing for such a good cause.
BIG THANKS to Joe i think it was, that let me use his amp after mine quit 3 mins into our set!! you rule dude!!!!
Right after we got done, i went and got horribly sick. Total heat exhaustion and dehydration. I hadnt been drinking water, just soda.
Thanks to whoever she was that found me laying near a car and gave me some water and ice to help cool down and feel better!!
I feel really bad, because people were coming up to me and talking to me and i was just sick, so if you felt i was short with you or didnt seem interested, that was NOT the case. I was really sick.
I got a ride with my drummer and slept in the AC for a few hours. Today i feel much better! anyway, i just wanted to clear that up. i did meet some people from RP briefly, and i cant wait to see them again and talk for longer.
Im glad people did their part and supported this benefit. Helping others is something we can all do and should make us feel better as people. Great Job Brian on doing this!

Parasomnia had a great time! Thank you Brian for having us on the bill. It was nice to put faces to some of the Rockpage names. Hawk, keep up that great work with the drums, seeing your ideas in action blew me away, those are great ideas for sure! oh and Brian, I'm glad you liked the intro to Bodies... that somehow made it worth it. Thanks again to everyone!

lost gig bag!!!

Post by Lerch »

I am a complete idiot!! After the benefit I left my gig bag laying there by the stage. If anyone can help me recover it I will come 2 every one of your shows or be your love slave or whatever u want. Everything I need 2 jam is in that bag (all my eggs in one basket), so recovering it is not an option... it's mandatory. Please contact here, or e-mail lerch_9@msn.com. But anyway, great show!!!

Awesome time with a great mix of styles and great conversations with some of the coolest cats here on RockPage and in this music community!
There are some really down to earth, good-hearted musicians here that went to bat for a great cause. 8)

Give it up for Sanchez for organizing and keeping everyting running smooth. He definitely has a knack for these benefit shows as they have always been sucessful! Maybe you should be a booker Dirt??

Jason, we need to hook up that metalfest-type show like we were talking about with you guys, Naildriver, The Grimm & The Embalmed that would be a sick line up if everyone would want to do it.

Metalchurch probably won't be on here as much for the next few months as he got about 10 different repair jobs offered to him from people there!
It was awesome talking shop with ya Joe, you know your shit!!!

Well...I can say, schizo or split personality...but I'm just a nice guy with some issues. Music is truely my release, but it's a focused release and not a reckless breakloose like how some people seem to associate the genre with. I'm too paranoid though. With the responsibility to entertain people, I'm constantly worried about what people think of me and uber-critical of myself. So I guess it's a double-edge sword. But it's fun for me, and hopefully to the people I'm attempting to entertain. And that's my number 1 priority to me.

Back to the topic though, I had a lot of fun. I'm glad to hear everything went extremely well. I want to do this again. I got to meet Cathy and she's super cool. Met a lot of new people too. Plus, getting to see old friends (Brian, Dave, Matt, Joe, Roman). Did anyone else get some pics or video throughout the night? I feel terrible sneaking out early, but I had some previous plans, but I was talking about it all night. Hey Brian who's place were we playing at? That dude was super cool with me. Is he a rockpager?

I had a great time from what I can remember!
Heat+beans=Joe not feeling good.
I tried to hold my composure as best I could, but eventually I had to head for the homestead.

I finally met a few rockpagers, and now I can put a face to a name.

Had a great time shootin' the shit with everyone.

It was nice talking to you also Lonewolf, I really enjoy tech talk with you.

Charltor, you ain't kidding man, I am gonna be a busy bee for the next few weeks. I couldn't believe I got that many jobs to do. Seemed like they just kept coming up to me.
I really need to open up shop soon, cause it's getting a little crazy doing it out of my house.

So if you guys need anything done, let me know I'm easy to work with and I'll treat you all good on the prices.

Charltor, loved Bs'in with you also man, I don't get to see you all that much anymore, so we always gotta catch up since the last time.

Brian, I think you did pretty damn good planning this, and doing your best to make it run smoothly for the Musicians and the spectators. You said that you learned a little for next time, so that's good man, you always learn something every time.

I did not know that MJB was there! Sorry Bro, I'll have to catch you next time, can't wait to meet you also.

I know Keith wasn't feeling good either from the heat, but he was having an awesome time as well. He misses you guys, I know that.
I don't think there was any fights either? That was real cool, considering the amount of alcohol that was flowing!

That would be awesome to do something like this real soon before it gets too cold out.

Ditto! I had to venture to Mansion Park twice on Saturday with my son for fund raising activities with the Altoona Youth Football League (Several GREAT $10 discount cards are still available! :) ), first at 9 a.m., then at 3. After the second visit we went to K-Mart for some back to school items.

Brian, if there's an address donations can still be sent to, to help out the Reeseman's, can you please either send it to me or post it?

Andrew- Chris Myers is the name of the guy who owned the place we played at. He is not a rockpager yet, but he said he will be soon.

Lerch- We have your stuff. It's in good hands. Just get in touch with me and I'll give you Pat's number. He called me yesterday to tell me he had it and thought it was yours.

Dave and Donna- Thanks for the kind words and I know you both would have been there if you could. Donna, no need to donate. Cathy got what she needed to finish paying the funeral home AND get caught up on the bills that were behind!!!!

Keith- That lady who helped you is Jen Deblois. She is a former employee of mine I'll tell her you said thanks, and I'm glad to hear you're OK.
Joe is the dude who loaned you his amp. He plays Guitar in The Side Effects. You met him at my brothers place before.

Cathy wanted me to thank all of you again. She came into work this morning with a smile that has been missing for some time now, and YOU are all the reason why.

Sounds like a good time! Also, my apologies for not being able to attend; Pennsylvania Musician was sponsoring a concert in Harrisburg on Saturday night, so I was representing and helping out. I'm glad to hear the show went well!

Just want to thank Brian for having us at the benefit. We all had a blast. Cathy had told me that the way she was getting through all of these bad time was with music, and let me tell you it was happnin' that night. It was great to see that it brought a smile to her face and we shared a hug. Best of luck to her in the future. There were alot of great musicians there and it was great to meet RPers' and put a face to a name. It was very hummbling to get suggestions from people for Blues songs to do in the future. I have a bad memory so if Jason ( Gallowglass ) and Joe ( Undercoverjoe ) could remind me of their's it would be greatly appreciated. One was Sweet 16 Girl ( ? ) and the other was ??????.
Please help me from my dymentia.

Hey Nakedtwister, I think I was talking about Ten Years After's version of "I Woke Up This Morning". Look it up, high power and gut bucket at the same time.

It was one of the biggest gatherings of RPers I have ever been to. I did have a blast, and I am so glad to see that this area has a new and dedicated blues band. There is not a weak link in The Hawks, every member is awsome.

Thanks Joe for the info again. I had such a great time talking to you and Jason, and all of the RPers at the benefit. The total wonderment of all the knowledge from younger and older pagers was refreshing. I was blown away. Hope to see all soon.

"She's 19 Years Old" by McKinley Morganfield (Muddy Waters). It's a slow deep churner that is instantly identifiable as the basis for about 1000 blues tunes. Listen to the "Live at Mr. Kelly's" to hear Muddy really work it. It would only really work if you need a slow one, though. Btw, it was great meeting & talking w/ you guys. I thought you guys were really awesome. I wish I had more opportunity to jam some blues like that.

I thought EVERYONE was great. I really gotta hand it to Sanchez, what a great day. I got to catch up with a lot of old friends & make some new ones. Scott Bush always makes me laugh. He's a cool dude and a hellacious player. Charltor too (we really do gotta make that show happen!). It was cool meeting Metalchurch (I'll be in touch). I also had a great time talking to Lonewolf (who knew we had so much in common)..., he always comes up with something unique and informed:

Me to Jeff, "...actually, my family are from a little string of islands called the Hebrides";
Jeff's response: "Inner or outer"?
(if you know what I'm talking about, you were just impressed).

Thanks again everyone, I had a blast.
