A career in music just doesn't have to be in a band, like the killer guitars you build. That's a pretty good career in itself.
Theirs always teaching, studio work, recording engineer and im sure alot of others im not listing. There's probably alot of guys and gals who never played in a band and have had a big career in the music field.
Just do it..

Very good quote, does it have to be a career? Cause it could be a shitty career or a great hobby.metalchurch wrote:Whats a music career?
If you go out on a sat night pay cover buy beer you might be down $50 bucks but if you play you get in for free , drink for free and go home with a couple bucks, pretty good hobby. That's why I never bitched much about money, its a free night out.
Don't bitch to me about the economy while you're still buying Chinese products.
What are we gonna do tonight, Metalbrain?metalchurch wrote:I stay away from alot of shit, I feel left out, cause I don't have a band.witchhunt wrote:I hear ya. Why do you think I hadn't responded to this thread?metalchurch wrote:Whats a music career?

So far my music has taken me on a great adventure. Across the country when I was young, writing, performing & recording in La for 8 years and now just playing what I want for people who appreciate us. So - all in all I think I'm pretty satisfied with where I am. There was a time when I thought fame was an ultimate goal, but in hindsite I'm glad I never got there simply because I do what I want and after seeing a ton of bands signed and dropped and raked over the coals I don't regret never compromising my soul and life to get further. (many things that could have taking me there presented themselves over the years).
I have learned to see the beauty of music for the love of it and I'm glad!

I'm in it for the fun and because it's my passion. I'm an entertainer, it's in my blood.
Started singing in bands back in the high school days and did that for a few years. Took a hiatus for college, marriage, kids and career. After the divorce (from a man with no interest in music) bands started calling me up on stage for jams. One thing lead to another and soon I had my own band, The NightOwls, up and running.
At age 47 I'm still young at heart and can rock hard. I suppose that's due to the passion. Making music isn't an option for me, it's a necessity.... I thrive on it.
Would I like to be "discovered".... record a one-hit wonder or be with a band that tours the country and withstands the test of time? Sure, who wouldn't?
For now though, I'll satisfy my "addiction" at clubs, festivals, and wherever my band can gig. I want to ride this wave for as long as I can
