Need help...press kits?

What all should be included in press kits? I know you need contact info, pic?, ect. But what all should be included?

Here is our press kit... we made it ourselves... check it out and get some ideas... we have bios, pics, schedule, references, etc....

we put all this in a folder and include a current schedule, demo cd and a business card...

Something that has been stressed to me when making a promo kit is to make sure the contact name, as well as the band's, and phone number are on EVERYTHING included in the press kit. Sometimes things can get jumbled around one someone's desk.

That is a great press kit Sanctify. How did you put it in a PDF format?

The easiest way is to use PDFwriter, which is a part of Adobe Acrobat and a few other of their products. It is basically a printer driver that you use to "print to file" and the resulting file is in .pdf. You can use any windows program you want to do the layout. Once you are done, you just print it to PDFwriter. Adobe Illustrator is a program you can use to do the layout AND create the .pdf

You can also scan paper layouts into Adobe Acrobat to produce .pdf, but the files end up much larger and the text is not searchable--not a good choice.
