...would have been a lot better if Christian Bale didn't continuously annoy the hell out of me with the repetitious gravelly voice bit. It just sounds stupid. I can't believe that I'm about to admit this, but I thought that Heath Ledger was absolutely brilliant. I've always considered him hit or miss, but this performance knocked it out of the park. Other than that, I thought the rest of the movie was OK.

I agree 100%. The "Batman voice" was way over the top, and Heath Ledger stole every scene he was in.
... and then the wheel fell off.

Went to see Hellboy2 Monday night, we were the only 2 in the theater.
I loved the first one and this one didn't disappoint.

is Bale trying to disguise his voice? its the only reason i figure he's so over the top. Ledger was brilliant. when he is captured and suspended by Batman and reveals his motives, did you notice how he changed his voice and inflection of tone? it was calculated and chiling to hear him explain himself as rationally and pointed as he did showing that he was in control all along. it was the equivalent of "I'm smarter than you, accomplished evrything I wanted, and you're fucked." it reminded me of Marlon Brando in Apocalpyse Now.
