EVERYTHING you want to know about the presidential election

Post by Hawk »

The Rockpage Presidential Election Thread

Where - eventually - you will find EVERYTHING you want to know.

In an effort to keep the presidential election conversations in a single thread, so as not to offend anti-political circles, I will do my best (uh-oh, that does leave an opening) to not start multiple election threads.

The thread title obviously includes all Rockpage pundits - who I'm sure, will speak their mind.

Feel free to speak YOUR mind.

I'll start things off with a simple proclamation. Obama is the best choice for your vote.

I will probably post but Ron or someone will delete my posts. I started a post about CO2 levels being good for crops, made fun of Al Gore, a liberal democrat, and my topic was removed. Guess some can't post bad things about liberal democrats.

I respect your opinion...I strongly disagree with it, but I respect it.
My personal opinion is that both Obama and McCain are schmucks and neither is a good choice for President. Do we need change?? Yes! Do we need Obama's style of change?? No. Is a vote for McCain a vote for "More of the same"??? Most likely. Am I afraid for our children's future?? Deathly afraid.

i feel mccaine is more qualified to lead this country right now than obama. i believe he has the expierience. i feel you get what you see from him. not to much bullshit. some maybe, but not too much. i feel obama is a shrude politician that is arrogant and will say and do anything to become president. he said what he had to say to get the nomination and now he's changing up his stance on alot of things. plus his wife scares me a little bit and mccaines wife is kinda hot  obama is a excellent talker and alot of people are fooled by that. mccaine not such agood talker. i don't really fall for the "bush 3rd term" crap. i don't see him like "w" at all. in the end i think the jig is gonna be up on obama and he will lose the election. tough times in the world right now and obama just doesn't have the grit. he got the speech, but thats about it. i aint voting for him.

I LOVE YOUR BAND BILL.

backlashbass, what is it that makes you think mccaine is a schmuck. no disrespect intended, i'm just curious. i've just always have kinda liked the guy, maybe it's because i'm a vet and have always kind of dug him for his service to our country and am not seeing something. just seems like a pretty stand-up guy to me. not a phoney schmuck like obama.

on a side note, i thought there was a stipulation that to be POTUS you had to have some sort of military service? but then again it might be like i thought the olympics was for all amature athletes till some how we started stacking our hoops team with the cream of the crop pros. maybe i was wrong on both accounts :?

Bill you always want detailed indepth facts on a subject whatever it may be.Hell Jonboy even busted my balls cause i didn't provide hard evidence of why i thought a certain person was funny  .
I guess what i really wanna know is what has your man ever done?Really?Don't give me that "community outreach bullshit" because that's what people do to feel good about themselves.Besides i'm sure his communist outreach consisted of cutting ribbons and photo ops.Not to mention in the mist of Americian student's math and english skills plunging like a dead 747 heading to earth,he thinks it would be a good idea for American schools to focus on bilingual studies  ????A true GLOBALIST .He may be running for the President of these United States but he is certainly looking beyond them.
Oh wait he did take a stand on one subject. He's a complete supporter of partial birth abortion......whata guy!

Some of his voting record.
http://www.themiddleclass.org/legislato ... FQodwH2jUg

I don't get the ,"What has he done" attitude. I like his vision of what he wants to do.

I honestly can't see how anyone can vote for a guy (McCain) who is out of touch with the economy.

A guy who thinks health care is OK just the way it is.

A guy who is against off shore drilling until he thinks he can get some votes by suddenly being for it.

A guy who doesn't know Al-Qaeda from insurgence.

A guy who will keep the war going, which will continue the increasing deficit and devaluation of the dollar.

A guy who has a temper that is too often out of control (ask the staff who quit his campaign in the beginning of the campaign) although his temper is known being out of control.

A guy who agrees with Bush on nearly everything.

Bi-lingual ? Hell, you'll be speaking Chinese if they keep buying our debt.

Spending without paying is the most UN-PATRAOTIC thing a president can do to Americans for generations to come. McCain will follow in Bush's footsteps in this most unpatriotic game plan.

A vote for Ron Paul or any Libertarian is like not voting at all. Wasted energy. Like I have said many times, the Libertarians have some good ideas, but they need to introduce them incrementally. Otherwise they will never make any influential inroads.

Joe, the reason your post got deleted was because of this disclaimer at the end of the article you reposted:

Once again I've used the wrong words to express my feelings (Not Uncommon). I shouldn't have used Schmuck, That is a personal attack on his character and that is not what I had intended. I feel that his voting record mirror's GW's way too closely for my personal comfort. I voted for GW 2X. The first time was because I truly felt he was the right man for the job and the second time for him to clean up his own mess. I'm thinkin' it's time for a change, but I don't think that either of these gentlemen are the change we need.

You know ? That picture represents the top 4% of the country's rich who want more, more, more. Please cut my taxes more. Please don't make me pay more wadges to the working class. Please break the unions. I can pay for health care so what's wrong with the system, leave it alone. No matter how much I get - it's not enough. I can never get enough. Yeah, Bush hears them. So will McCain.

OR - Does that represent Big Oil. "We need more tax incentives. We need the government to give us more money so we can find alternative fuels. Yeah, that's the ticket".

McCain's surrogates say it will be impossible for Obama to balance the budget because Obama wants to give TAX CUTS to everyone earning $250,000 or less. (Seems to me, that will help stimulate the economy.)

YET McCain STILL wants to make the TAX CUTS to the top 2% Permanent ! Yes, he is more of Bush !

BTW, Obama wants to REMOVE the tax cuts Bush gave to the top 2%.

I strongly disagree. Big Oil and Big Money are not helpless chicks. I think this is more appropriate:

I think anyone earning over 100k a year doesn't need a tax cut. I consider that very wealthy.

Under 250K is fair. 100K might sound like a lot in Altoona, but over-all, it's not. Tax cuts for the 250K and under crowd will stimulate the economy and there will be a (anti - Reagan) trickle up economy.

I consider people rich when they can just go pay cash for anything they want; for example, a new car. Or they have so much extra money they pay their house off in 5 years. School loans, mortgage payments, auto loans, and credit cards seem to not allow people to ever get ahead in life. Think how much easier it would be if you didn't have a car payment, mortgage, etc.

Alot of your expenses have to do with quality of lifestyle. I'm sure I could buy a 600 sq foot house and a new kia and pay it off pretty fast. But you know where I'm going with this.

This doesn't have much to do with politics but it states my perception on rich vs not rich.
