rough recordings

Post by Mikey Wax »

Looking for some freebie program to install on my laptop to do some rough practice recordings. I understand that the sound won't be great using a single mic in the room somewhere. I just want something that will capture some stuff that's being worked on so it can be burnt to a CD for us to have so we remember the songs, and for lyric/vocal melody writing purposes.

Also any suggestions on how to handle this would be helpful.

Thanks.

If you have a mic that will plug into the 1/8" mic input on your laptop, you can also use the standard windows wave recorder.
Audacity is nicer though.

Thanks guys. I thought that wave recorded only let you do 60 second clips.

You can make it record longer clips, but you have to trick it.
You're much better off downloading Audacity.
