Xbox 360
Does anyboy know how to fix a dvd drive on an xbox 360? I think my drive is bad it keeps saying, when you put a game in it reads the disk and then says tray open. I bought a new drive, its the same one except the f/w i have is 28 and the new drive is f/w 25. i read that this dosen't make a difference, I took the pcb off of the new drive and put it on my old drive and now I get one red light in the bottom right corner witch means no drive found. when i put my old drive in with the new pcb from the new drive it reads it but i still have the same problem as i did before. dose anybody have any idea on how to fix this? or what miught be the cause? thanks.

apparently they are coded to work only with the drive they came with, at least thats what I've heard from people who know more than me.
apparently even if its not under warrenty microsoft will fix it for like $20 or something quite reasonable, you just have to be without it for a while.

Stand back, I like to rock out.

normally that's not a drive issue, it's a standard hardware issue. It's a computer chip that doesn't convert the disc signal into a readable format for the CPU, that's at least the common problem that's all over the web. If it's just the drive, consider yourself lucky to just swap it out, replace some jumpers and you should be done, i've never done it on my 360, but i've done it in PS2's and it wasn't hard...good luck with it
If I ever see an amputee getting hanged... I'm just gonna start yelling out letters...
