Yeah, I saw him on Ellen Wednesday. He sounds good. It just looks funny with him up there though.

I saw him on youtube a couple of months ago. He does sound like Steve Perry. But Journey is not journey without Steve Perry ...

They are headlining a tour with Heart & Cheap Trick. They'll be at Hershey Park on August 28.

Their new "single" sux. It just goes nowhere, IMO.

And you're right, Journey is not Journey without Perry.

That's what she said.

The very first time I heard the new single, "Never Walk Away", I thought WOW, this dude sounds pretty close to Steve Perry! Then he started singing the chorus, and with every "awayeeeeayeeeeayeeeeay" I almost cringed. I have to admit the tune has grown on me, even though imho, it seems as if he's attempting too hard to sound like Steve Perry with the chorus, and Steve Perry can never be replaced. All of that aside, if I'm able to, I'd definitely go see Journey with this dude singing...he's as close to Steve Perry as anyone ever could be.

I'm listening to the new Journey album, Revelation, right now. Overall, I think Arnel Pineda does a good job. He does sound like Steve Perry, but on repeat listens you can pick up nuances of his own personality and style. I'll be interested to hear what he and Journey do on subsequent albums, after he has settled in more and becomes more involved in the songwriting.

What really blows me away about this album, though, is Neal Schon, who unleashes some of his most inspired guitar work in years; especially on the instrumental that closes the disc, "The Journey (Revelation)."

Agreed 100%!

I will also be curious to see how well Arnel's voice holds up to touring. He doesn't seem to have to strain as much as previous "Steve Perry sound-a-like" Steve Augeri (Who also did very well but who's voice couldn't seem to hold up to the rigors of touring).

Actually, oriental is not the accepted nomenclature.
