I need an audio-capture program...
I'm sure I have no idea where to look for this, and i'm equally sure some of you can help...
I'd like a Windows program (prefer shareware or something FREE) that can capture the audio from, say, a Youtube video or streaming online audio, and record it as an audio file. There's an enormous wealth of music on Youtube (bootlegged video and such) that I'd love to get, without having to run something from the line-out on the laptop to a seperate recorder. Can anybody point me to a good program?----->JMS

I have a laptop... line out, but no line in, mic only. I tried that, the signal's too hot no matter how you set it.Heartless_Mockery_Records wrote:Or you probably have a 1/8" stereo output jack? Just loop it back into the 1/8" input and use like audacity or something free?
Thanks, though, I'll try the software. Anybody have a better program?--->JMS

I have a USB audio interface... you mean I can, say, come out of the "headphone out" of my laptop, into the "line in" on the USB interface, and then via USB to Audacity. I have the USB thingy set as the "Record" card on my computer, and the laptop sound card set as "Play". Theoretically, it would seem easy...
Anybody know if I'll nuke either one if I try this?--->JMS

That would work. Just mute the audio output of USB device in your recording software or I think you'll be creating an audio loop (???).songsmith wrote:I have a USB audio interface... you mean I can, say, come out of the "headphone out" of my laptop, into the "line in" on the USB interface, and then via USB to Audacity. Incidentally, I use Audacity and it works just fine for this. It has some good audio editing features and you can save to MP3 also.
