Music 2.0

Post by Heartless_Mockery_Records »

Pretty interesting concept developed in Korea, it is a digital music format (like mp3) that will deliver songs in a 6 channel format where the listener will have control over the individual volumes of the drums, vocals, guitar, whatever. Essentially allowing them to customize YOUR music for themselves.

Apparently, some feel that it will do to mp3 what mp3 did to cd.

I say "lead balloon".

Your thoughts, gentleman.

Too much of a band's sound is lost if just anyone could play engineer... Won't catach on over here for quite some time and if it does it will be some indy gimmick. Heck I'd bet DVD-A would be bigger first.

You have to take into consideration the culture over there is wild for karaoke, cover bands don't get much work.. Its the karaoke DJ's/bands that get the good paying gigs.

Imagine being a karaoke DJ and not having to play some crappy re-do version of a song, but rather the real original with no alterations other than dropping the vocal track. Big business.

But I'd love to drop the crappy guitar and vocals out of many songs and just listen to the drums and bass

Nine Inch Nails has a nice little "Remix" area on the web where you can go in and mess with tracks. Definitely not the norm but cool. Trent is really pushing the boundaries now that he is free from the bondage of the record companies.

Also check out "The Slip" if you haven't already....
