hasek-most likely gone. osgood still has a way to go in his career.
chelios-no...he'll still be there. he'll be playing in to his 50's to a limited degree i am sure. he didn't even play one shift in the finals.

roberts-prob has 1 more year. he's been plagued by injuries the past 2 seasons and if he stays and the pens win a cup next year...he'll retire.

hossa and orpik should be back...i know hossa is a free agent this offseason but i wasn't aware of brooks orpik...both would be invaluable.

Orpik most likely but Hossa and Dupuis will be gone now...Roberts will most likely retire.

The Pens...

Post by Rich »

I "hear".... The Pens are going after, for the lack of better words. Fluery, Malkin and Staal.... They have Crosby till 2012, or something like that. After those 3 they will have to decide who they want to "Pay to stay".... I dout Hosa will re-sign. He's in his prime, so to speak. Pens can't afford him. Roberts, I dout. He was talkin on FSN the other night about recovering from injuries and how hard it was. Plus spending time with his family. I dout Malone will stay either.... I guess we will find and sooner or later...

BOTH TEAMS PLAYED THEIR ASSES OFF. IT WAS NICE TO SEE HOW MANY PEOPLE STUCK AROUND AFTER THE GAME TO SEE THE WINGS TAKE THE CUP.
WHO KNOWS WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF FLEURY HADN'T KNOCKED THAT PUCK IN WHEN HE FELL BACKWARDS, IT MAY HAVE BEEN ANOTHER TRIPLE OVERTIME......
PENNSYLVANIA IS A GREAT PLACE TO LIVE, BUT DETROIT IS HOCKEYTOWN AND IT CAN'T BE DENIED!!!!

:D   :P

What a game. I about had a heart attack with the last push right before the end of the game. The Pens have absolutely nothing to hang their head about. I think they can get back next year, and provided Malkin shows up before Game 6, they can hoist the first of many cups to come with Crosby, Malkin and Fleury. Well played.
Yeah, that shot on goal with :01 left had me about 1 inch away from the screen.

Excellent game. Excellent series. We'll be seeing the Pens again next year, methinks.

The cup is only inches away from the Pens......Both goalies Fleury & Conklin are free agents....Malone, Roberts, Orpik & Hossa also. With the team that they have it might be harder for these players to leave just for the money. They all say they want their name on the cup. Hossa played on a team that was going nowhere. Malone has ties to Pgh. The one I see as the signing problem will be Fleury. Just my opinion.

I keep seeing replays in my mind of the puck behind Fleury, slowly drifting toward the goal...and then....

No shit ... I was sure the ref was high or something when he called it a goal, until the replay.

Of course, you know that happened a helluva lot faster than it seemed in the replay.

Oh well, you know what they say, sometimes the puck caroms off the goalie's ass.

Congrats to the Wings. The Pens will be there next year .. It was a good series. I am hoping that they do not lose some of their key players ...

I hope that hossa resigns, I think he likes where he's at, and I'm sure he wants his name on the cup. Its just a matter of how much he thinks he's worth.

I would be dumbfounded if Malone doesn't stick with pittsburgh.

Fleury will almost surely get resigned, I doubt they will resign Conklin, and if I was Conklin there's no way I'd want to, he's way too good to sit on the bench all the time.

I'm sure Roberts would have retired if the pens had won the cup. I hope he sticks around for another run next year.

I think that any player who would leave the penguins after this year would be crazy. The pens have a group of young strong guys that work very well together, and if this year is any indication of things to come, we could be looking at some glory years for the penguins in the very near future.

Here is hoping that they stay together, for the most part, next year.

he's becoming worth more than what the pens will pay him. he's a hometown dude from pittsburgh...but hard to tell what he'll do.

not to break the subject, but have they announced a tentative date for the new stadium to be ready? I haven't heard anything about it for quite a while.

this is a very interesting article about the future of the pens

http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app?articleid=36 ... rvice=page

Marian Hossa mentions that he's willing to take less money to remain on the pens, awesome!

That is good to hear. I know some of them will leave for the money. But losing the key players will hurt them.

I don't mind that too much. I obviously hope they get to keep Hossa and I think Malkin is going to be a lock, but I really hope that Orpik stays around.

I also hope they can resign Ruutu.

Pittsburgh needs some damned wingers.

I get why they made the deal, what I don't get is why they didn't draft a left wing.
