Creation 2004

Post by tornandfrayed »

This was a 5 day concert held for the benefit of Jesus! It was pretty cool!

Don't get me wrong here, I know a lot of people bash on organized religion (me being one of them) but the fact that I have strong faith should not alienate anyone. I am not big on preaching and I don't care too much about converting people to my way of thinking.

This was just a great festival. Held on the Agape Farm near Mt Union it was 5 days of great music, motivational speaking and a lot of cool people really caring about each other.

These bands ( Audio Adrenaline, Jars of Clay, News Boys, Pillar, Switchfoot) put it out there and stick to their guns. They also play to 80,000 people regularly. It was a very inspiring thing.

Yeah, I saw a flyer for the event and noticed many main stream bands on the bill this year. I didn't know they were considered "christian" bands. I know 12 Stones played the event. Their lead singer, Paul McCoy sang backup in Evanescences' first video.

If it was closer to where I live I would have went just to see the bands.

We actually had the chance to play Creation this year, but couldn't because we couldn't find 2 members to complete the band. :(

12 Stones is a perfect example of a band made of up christian people. Not so much christian bands anymore and they put on a really good show.

That is where I got my start in music, actually. When I was a sophmore in highschool, one of my student teachers was writings lyrics and I was peeking over his shoulder and corrected him on a note that he just wrote down. He asked me what I played and he said "Oh yeah, we've been looking for a bass player..." and I joined a Christian Metal band called "Providence". Ultimatly, I got kicked out for being too "rock n' roll" for them. People who know me know that yes, I do believe in God, but I do not, however, feel the need to go to church, or do anything to proclaim my faith to others because it is just freakin' stupid. To me, anyway. I am not bashing people who do it, it's just not my thing. So, I was like the black sheep of the band (I wore Korn t-shirts and such. chains, always in black...you know, that old chestnut) and finally got kicked out for telling the drummer that his dad couldn't run sound for sh*t. I was kinda pissed back then, but I look back at it now and just laugh about it. I learned alot about music, myself, my own "ideas" (See Dogma), and others. All in all, it was a great few months.

Oh yeah - - Muwhahaha! The horns hold up the halo, baby!
