My company provided the sound and lighting for the past two years of the Kix reunion shows. I was completly blown away. Best show I've seen in a long time. The band sounded incredible outside. If you can make it to one of the shows, I highly recommend it!!

Stix and Stones had the honor of opening for Kix at 30 Something years ago. I couldn't believe how small Steve was. He's maybe just over 5 feet tall and my arm was as big as his leg. They put on a great show! I remember seeing him walking around the kitchen doing his vocal warm ups into a bar towel. I asked him "why are you doing that"? He removed the towel from his mouth and almost blew me up against the wall with his voice. Great singer! He He, we wrote 40 minutes of original songs a week before that show.

So Funny Money is playing there next Sat? Cool... What are some other cool bands/bars in the area? I heard Steve actually grew up/ lives around here??

Any info would help get me up to speed on the area...

I did get some cool trivia that Lynndie England the chick from the Abu Grab photo scandal lives in the trailer next door... Think if I take the apt she'll take pics of me nakes smothered in butter? there's a vision...

As for Ft. Ashby, The Roadhouse is the only place that has bands. There is another bar, I believe it's called the Corner Tavern. It's by the stoplight. If you don't have a prison tattoo or a notarized letter confirming your last conviction, don't even of think of going in there.

Steve grew up in Piedmont, WV, which is across the Potomac from Westernport, Md.. Piedmont is a tiny little shithole, and has recently been over-run with drug activity. Stay away from that place, too.

If you don't mind driving, most of the bands in this area play in Cumberland, Md. There's about a dozen places to play, and that mainly depends on the genre of the band. Ashcats is good for just about anything. The Bluestone, which is in Lavale, Md., really likes their metal.
A lot of the bands that play around here also play at The Roadhouse. If you don't want to drive, you can just wait for them to play out your way. I recommend taking in the Funny Money show. I also recommend taking a good pair of ear plugs, Funny Money is one of the loudest bands I've ever heard.

I was unaware that Lynndie England was living in Ft. Ashby. I'll assume that she's keeping a low profile, lol.
Pour me another one, cause I'll never find the silver lining in this cloud.

I've never been to Jaxx, but they do get a lot of good bands down there. Jaxx is in Fairfax, Va, in case you didn't know. I'm not familiar at all with any clubs in Winchester.

Yea... Springfield actually, Fairfax county.... did construction down that way for most of the late 80's so I know my way around pretty well.... Right now I'm right up RT 50 near Winchester VA....

Going down tonight to see Death Angel and Soilent Green...

Love Kix. I lived in Maryland from '84 to '89 and got to see them for the first time at Great Mills High School. They played an outdoor gig at an amphitheater behind the school. All I could think was what the hell are they doing playing here? Man they kicked ass. What a great band. They hung around after and partied with us after the show. Great bunch of guys. We used to go to Georgetown to see them too.

Here's a rare clip from Kix in Japan right about the time when I saw them doing their Midhight Dynamite tour. Is it any wonder why they completey rocked sir skate back in the 80's and ruled the PA/MD scene? I loved these guys!

Tonight's Funny Money at The Roundhouse in Ft Ashby WV.. I stopped last night on my way home from work and there's nothing on the Marquee out front, just a small sign on the door.. Although I'm sure word of mouth will have a big crowd there....

The place is only a little over an hour south of Altoona so I might go down to see them...remember if you go, Lynndie England lives in the blue trailer next door to the bar so be sure to stop and get your own Abu Grab style photo taken with the infamous Mrs England.. hehe..
