BeelzeFarf, Differently-Abled Lord of the Dark Realms

Post by songsmith »

Per conversations on other threads, behold BeelzeFarf, we got him at a rescue in Virginia, and they said he was from Oklahoma, but we know better. He was lapdog to The Dark Master himself. He's tortured the souls of the damned for all eternity, until coming to Bellwood to torture my troubled soul as well. Plus, he totally pooped in my coat pocket once, I kid you not. Evil has a name, and his name is Farfel.

He's the one in the middle. Samantha the 13-yr-old mix is on the left, and Frankie the 4-year-old is on the right. Together they make up the Unholy Trinity of the Weinerdog Apocalypse, the Three Yard-Nuggeteers, Los Tres Malos. --------->JMS

LOL

Anybody old enough to remember Farfel The Dog, a puppet? I remembered the puppet but didn't know it's name, I had to look it up... Farfel was a puppet on 60's TV that helped in live Nestle's commercials... "...N-E-S-T-L-E-S, Nestle's makes the very best..." Then Farfel would say, "Chawk-liiiiit!"
Plus Farfel is a type of German noodle.
Farfel the dog jumped off the back of a couch when he was 4 or so (he's about 9 now, I think) and broke his back... after thousands in operations, he went to a rescue shelter, then to foster homes for waaay too long, then to us. He had some trouble getting used to us (it took almost 2 years!) but now he's cool, generally speaking. Dachshunds are the funniest dogs on the planet, but he can be a major PITA, and still costs a pile of money to keep him healthy. He has a little doggy-wheelchair/cart made from RC airplane parts, but he hates it... he'd rather scoot around on his ass.
TJKelly's met him, he's a real pisser (in EVERY sense of the word, ask my carpets), but he's my buddy when I'm home, so what are ya gonna do?...

Post it to Photobucket.com and beneath the picture you'll get a code that says "Image imbed" or IMG. Copy & Paste that line into a Rockpage post, and the pic will appear here. If I can do it anyone can!---->JMS

Here's a pic of my two boys. My son, and Shadow, A.K.A. Poofie, or "The Bumpus Mutt". He's a Black Lab/Rottweiller mix. Had to edit out the fact that he was obviously "Very" happy to have his picture taken.

this thread couldn't have come at a better time for me. we went to campon thurs. we took are two dogs and left "merf" behind cuz he is old, cant see, cant hear and has arthritus in his spin. we've been giving him rimadil(something like that) and it has done wonders for him. anyway(i'm going to try to keep this as short as possible) camp is great, i'm in my unwind mode and starting to have a good time when the phone rings, its the sitter. she cant find merf. long story short, i jump in the my truck drive the 2.5 hours back home and start looking but it's dark and i figure he's got about a 4-5 hour headstart. i search for him on the quad till about midnight. no luck. up at crack looked some more, came home, made posters to put on telephone polls, hung them up around the area, went back out looking around. nothing. i keep looking out on the patio hoping that he'll be there like he always was.

merf was old and not all together with it. before i started giving him the meds for his arthritus i thought i was gonna have to put him down. that was in the winter. and all i wanted was for him to make it to enjoy some beautiful spring days. he did.

i found merf about 5.5 years ago he was not taken very good care of and i knew as soon as i saw him i wasn't going to find his owner. up until that point i was 5 for 5 on find ing dogs and finding their owners. we already had two dogs and took some serious arm twisting to be able to keep him and we did. he was merf though he was never like my other two that iraised from pups. our saying around here was " he marches to the beat of a different drummer" but man iloved him so much and i am just heart broken. i think he probobly got out cuz the sitter didn't shut the gate and probobly got 50 feet away from the house and got confused and just started to mosy like he did 5.5 years ago. but now it's been two days with no meds and the humane society is closed today  . figures.

i just can't explain how sad i am. merf wasn't long for this world, he wasn't suffering or anything yet but like i said i just wanted him to enjoy some beautiful spring days and all i can hope for is he wondered off to go find himself a big tree to lay under and go to his next life. i don't know what else to think. we didn't take him to camp with us just because we thought he would be more comfortable at home.

sorry for the sad story but i'm just so bummed and worried for my little friend. it's just so incredibly sad. thats all.

Hey, sorry to hear your story, and the pic with the sad face makes it even sadder still.
We had a dachshund who got cancer about 5 years ago, and when he ceased to be able to do his favorite doggy things, we had to have him euthanized. I wish I could tell you I was a man about it, but I wasn't, I was a mess.
If you find him, well, that's cool. If you don't, it may be that it's just Merf doing things Merf's way, going out on his own terms. Dogs do that sometimes.
Thanks for introducing us to Merf. I'm sure we all feel for you right now.--->JMS

thanks john, i am a mess. i try to think like you said, he was going out on his terms. i just wanted to be here for him, and i feel like i let him down by leaving him behind and leaving him with a stranger that didn't really "get" merf. god, this sucks. i feel like a little piece of my heart was taken.

thankyou for the kind words johnny.

mjb I too feel for you. And am sorry. Its always tough losing a pet.

This is my buddy, Whiskey J. Schnauzador. He's half (white) Yellow Lab and half Miniature Schnauzer. He's just a little guy but he's the coolest dog I've ever had.

thanks fellas. you know, merf was a mystery. from day one, we always wondered where he came from what his life was like before we found him. him, just up and leaving adds to his mystique. i was just out looking under pine trees in the neighbor hood and thinking it would be cool if i could just find him even if he was dead. i really do feel in my heart that within the next few weeks to a month was all he would have had left and iwould have had to have him euthanized. the wife and i both knew that was right around the corner. it doesn't make it any easier, i would have just liked to have said good-bye. i'll be shakin my head with a grin on my face for alot of years to come when i think about him. he was one of a kind.

thanks for the kind words all, who knows, he just might turn up, the humane society wasn't open today and my wife made 200 flyers and went door to door + we put an add in the paper. i'm still hangin on a little bit, but have come to terms with i'll probobly never see him again.

This is my little guy, Diefenbaker, or just Dief for short. He's named after a dog in one of my favorite TV shows of all time, Due South. See explanation here: http://home.hiwaay.net/~warydbom/duesouth/dief.htm

On the day we went to bring him home from the shelter:
