L.A. Guns Coming to Altoona?

Post by Jim Price »

I was just doing some research into concerts coming to Pennsylvania for the concert calendar on Q94's website, and when I typed in Altoona on Pollstar, I saw L.A. Guns listed as performing at the "Altoona Convention Center" on Aug. 5.

Upon doing some more detective work, I found out that there are currently two different bands touring as "L.A. Guns." One version has Tracii Guns; the other has Steve Riley and Phil Lewis. Upon checking the latter group's website, www.laguns.net, I found that this line-up is coming to the Blair County Convention Center on August 5, with the show listed as a "Private Corporate Event." Very interesting...

This has me curious. Just who is renting out the Convention Center on Aug. 5, and hiring L.A. Guns to provide the entertainment?

That sucks for the Sheetz employees! I hope, for their sake, that it's not mandatory.

From what I hear, the Tracii Guns version sucks balls. Even though it has Tracii in it, the band doesn't have very good players in it.

They do suck. Tracii put a shitty group of people together, even though it does have their original singer Paul Black in it. He wasn't very good anyway. Sucks that it's a private event. Would like to get the opener for that.

I'd see the Phil Lewis version, but probably not the Tracii Guns version. I have contacts at the Convention Center and at Sheetz Corporate... I could probably work that show.------>JMS

I was trying to get LA GUNS a few months back, but they had already started heading west. Their agent didn't say anything about which version was out touring at the time.

It IS put together by Sheetz. From what I understand, if you're not a sheetz employee it's $30 a pop!

Who in the living hell would pay $30 to see either version of LA CRAP? Why aren't these bands dead yet?

$30...holy shit...let me tell you this. They are ripping people off at that price...not just because of the "out dated" band they are bringing in, but also because I know what the price is for LA GUNS. Tickets should only be about $10, unless the promoter is a jackass and has no clue about talent buying and the booking agent took him for a ride in the asking price.

I pooped a little when I read this, but then I realized it was the food from Sheetz that caused it. $30 is steep, but considering that Sheetz is making more per gallon off of H2O than gasoline, it doesn't surprise me. That convention center has some bills to pay, too.
