What's your favorite "LIVE" album/CD?
What's your favorite "LIVE" album/CD?
It's tough to get agood sounding live album/CD that captures the essence of a band. What's your favorite choice? My favs:
Deep Purple - Made in Japan
Kiss - Alive
Cactus - don't know the name and only one side of the album is live
Peter Frampton - Frampton comes alive. Not a big Frampton fan, but a great live album none the less.
Led Zeppelin - The song remains the same.
The Who - live at Leeds
Grand Funk - live album

A few favorites right off the top of my head:
AC/DC - If You Want Blood...You've Got It
Jethro Tull - Bursting Out
Kansas - Two for the Show
Gary Moore - We Want Moore!
Judas Priest - Unleashed in the East
Cheap Trick - Live at Budokan
Humble Pie - Performance: Rockin' the Fillmore
Allman Brothers Band - Live at Fillmore East
Scorpions - Tokyo Tapes
UFO - Strangers in the Night
Vardis - 100 M.P.H. (Vardis was an obscure English boogie rock band; this live album was their debut, introducing the incredible shredding talents of guitarist Steve Zodiac.)
And although it just came out mere weeks ago, I have to list this one up there as well, it's damned good:
Queensryche - Mindcrime at the Moore
(I'm still pissed off that Queensryche never rescheduled their western PA tour date from the Mindcrime I & II tour two years ago, this album makes me all the more envious of the lucky folks who got to see it!)
I'm sure I'll think of a bunch more...

anything from fat-wreck's "live in a dive" series. bands that did one were no use for a name, bracket, sick of it all, strung out, subhumans, swingin' utters, lagwagon. (basically me and sanchez are the only 2 who would like these albums)
i own all of them. i also recommend all of them (except for the subhumans one...they suck)
other favs...
the queers-"live at some prick's house"
the queers-"suck this"
the queers-"live in west hollywood"
the queers-"weekend at bernie's"
nofx-"they've actually gotten worse live"

Live After Death - no question
Alive II - absolutely (always liked it better than Alive)
Heaven and Hell (Sabbath) Live at Radio City Music Hall - amazing
GnR - Live Like a Suicide (so raw, but powerful - you just knew they were on the verge of being huge)
Exit Stage Left - how three guys can pull off the music they do live amazes me
and JP - Mindcrime I and II was AWESOME in Nashville - great show!

UFO - Strangers in the Night. Schenker's tone is so over the top....
Michael Stanley Band - Stagepass. Classic 70's. Every genre represented
Max Webster - Live Magnetic Air.
UK - Night After Night. Prog Rock Classic. If John Wetton had more balls when he sang, this would top the list.
Nine Inch Nails - And All That Could Have Been. Saw the tour. Great memories found here.
10CC - Live and Let Live. Rocks harder than you might think. Vocals KILL on this disc.

Seriously, you should be ashamed to call yourself punk.DrumAndDestroy wrote: i own all of them. i also recommend all of them (except for the subhumans one...they suck)
The Subhumans do anything but suck. All those bands you named in your thread are anything but punk.Fat Records is the shittest label ever.Besides Epitaph. You need to do your homework son.Seriously
Pop music isn't punk.
Sorry it had to be said.
You need to look into the history and influence of British punk.Or American for that fact.
Next to Crass and Discharge, the Subhumans are right up there.
