Hey, I had an Avatar bass cabinet at one time. It started falling apart after gigging if for 9 months.

Seriously, though. Avater does not build their own cabinets. They get them
from Mojo.

I lot of guys dig them. Mine was just really poorly constructed. The carpeting came unglued after a couple of months and the wood dividing the port was always crooked. After having it for about 9 or 10 months, it took on a rattling sound whenever I'd feed it any serious juice because the joints were coming undone. I imagine that I just got a lemon, but the sound of it didn't light a fire under my ass anyways.

I have heard many good things about Voodoo, though, particularly their ADA mods.

No they don't. You can even call Avatar and they will confirm that.

Mojo cabs are built way better than Avatar cabs. My Mojo cab is my favorite.

Nice tone. Has that great "80's" modded vibe but with more definition.
old sKool was here...
...and can be found here

Overall, my Mojo is the best cab I ever had.

Kenny, I agree with you it does have a very defined 80's sound, and dare I say refined. I always liked those tones, but my personal sound is more compressed and alot higher gain than this.
I've tried many times to back everything off just to mess around with sounds comparable to this plexi, but I just can't seem to do it.
My friend Paul had the '87X reissue and that thing was a fuckin' monster in it's own right

Much admiration and respect for this tone but it is just not for me. (maybe someday when I mature musically, haha!)
Shadow, thanks alot for adding this, I'm always into gear and hearing things like this.

This company, Voodoo, is that what they specialize in or do they actually have their own line of products? I've heard of them before, but I can't really remember exactly for sure.

They have been at it a while. Phil Collen and Vivian Campbell of Def
Leppard play 100 watt V-Plex amps. Doug Aldrich of Whitesnake has
2 100 watt V-Rocks on tour with him now. Trace @ Voodoo was finishing
up his amps about the same time mine was shipping out.
My amp has a ton more gain and gets very saturated when cranked. To
hear this amp in person is nothing short of astonishing. Here is a link to the web site.

I used to have one of those (stock) with a 1960A cab, but it sure didn't sound like that (not that good).

Trace does amazing work and he is super cool to deal with. I'm doing
some sound clips of the Jose Mod for his site because he only has the two YouTube clips of the mod right now. He has gotten alot of buisness from
the clips and since I'm doing the other stuff he's gonna give me some deals on future mods as well as deep discounts on cables and such. You
will not catch David Bray doing stuff like that. Hell he will not even say
thanks for the free YouTube promo he's getting from guys.

Shadow, that link that you threw up of the 100W version is definitely closer to the sound of my rig, and that would be something of interest to me.
As I've stated before, I absolutely love the other tones and I listen to alot of 80's metal so I also have deep respect for those players.

I am very impressed with Voodoo's mods, I'd like to hear that 100w version through a 1960 cab though. The 1936 was no slouch either.

Good stuff dude! Thanks for answering my questions also.
