I didn't think they did much last year, but Forbes named the Stones #5 Most Powerful Celebrity. It has something to do with net worth and influence.
Here's the top 5:
1. Mel Gibson
2. Tiger Woods
3. Oprah Winfrey
4. Tom Cruise
5. Rolling Stones

I don't get the hype
The Stones to me are old, dry, washed up I don't get the hype and never have. " the greatest rock & roll band of all time " ? I think they may have had 2 good songs throughout their career. Three Chord blah blah blah ..
I'm glad I didn't have to fight in a war, I'm glad I didn't get killed or kill somebody, I hope my kids enjoy the same lack of manhood

I don't like them much either, but you gotta respect them for longevity. In 30 years of playing pro or semi-pro, the only R.S. song I remember covering was "Miss You" and we only did that to have the appearance of playing a little disco during the disco era.
This Forbes thing was based on numbers like net worth, etc.

I never really liked The Stones until one day I actually sit down and realized how many great tunes they have. Keith Richards is probably the worlds first and only walking Zombie, but his licks back then weren't too shabby. One of my most favorite Kiss songs, '2000 Man,' was written by them as well.
