Who's voice drives you nuts?
Man, I love allot of different musical stylings and allot of different sounds, but sometimes singers drive me nuts! I really like a few ACDC songs, but Brian's crooning wears on me sometimes. Also, the dorkass from Simple Plan, his voice makes me want to punch the floor! Who's voice annoys you?

Who's that rapper...um...JaRule! He tried to sing a song, I mean actual singing, and he sounded like a roadkill coyote after about 5 cartons of Marlboros!
And also, no disrespect to the band, but the lead singer of Cannibal Corpse, who just jams the mic against his neck and grunts. What the hell is that??

That is a classic icon of death metal, Chris Barnes, before Six Feet Under...If you actually try to do that, it takes skill...ToonaRockGuy wrote:And also, no disrespect to the band, but the lead singer of Cannibal Corpse, who just jams the mic against his neck and grunts. What the hell is that??

hey
I agree that guy from The Darkness needs to stop already.
Most definately Courtney Love! She shouldn't be allowed within 10 feet of a mic!

Britney, like Madonna, should just dance and take off her clothes. Aguilera can actually sing, but she's a skank.
Shania Twain. What would happen if the auto-tune broke?
Almost all 80's New Wave, especially The Cure. How 'bout I give you something to whine about, Robert. I bet I know how you smeared your lipstick. ----->JMS

Now come on, the Cure? I would venture to guess that the impact of the Cure will become more and more prevalent as time goes on.
Just like "Alice in Chains" I mean who doesn't sound like they were influenced by them?
The bands that I am becoming immune to are Godsmack, 3 doors down and the plethora of bands that have that sound.
That style is just starting to wear on me.
How about country music in general. I mean country-pop crossover music has to be one of the most nauseating styles around.

The singer from Smashing Pumpkins. Their studio stuff sounds great, but live, it sounds like someone is beating a cat senseless. The dude can NOT sing.
The liver is evil....It needs punished.

hey
Torn & Frayed, you're absolutely right about everyone sounding heavily influenced by Alice In Chains! From Godsmack to Creed but no one can ever or will ever replace Layne Staley. To me, he was the best rock singer period. Too bad he's gone, I often wonder what one more AIC record would have sounded like. Too bad they got lumped into that "grunge" category, to me they were just a great hard rock band!
Upon further review, I would have to add Fred Durst into this list; what's up with that high pitched whiney rap thing, and "Behind Blue Eyes" is just plain wrong!

The worst for me: Lucinda Williams. As a songwriter, she may be OK but I HATE her voice. Also JaRule is really bad. Torn & Frayed, a band can still be a great & important influence and have a lead singer who's voice drives you nuts at times. I am the biggest Bob Dylan fan in the world: his place in music history and songwriting skills are un-paralleled but at times his voice drives me NUTS. One producer, Daniel Lanois, made him sound great though. I also don't see what the big deal about Ryan Adams is, sounds like crap and puts me to sleep.
I never got the Ryan Adams thing either. My buddies in Nashtown get a boner everytime his name is mentioned, but he never did a thing for me.
The deal with The Cure... back then you couldn't get crunchy guitars on the radio to save your life, with all the English whiners sucking up college-radio airtime. Then they come along with..."I will aw-ways wuv you..." and "Fwiday I'm in wuv..." Puh-leeze. I don't underestimate their influence, but that stuff drives me nuts still.----->JMS

Hey Punkinhead, did Chris Barnes do that when he was fronting Leviathan? Just curious, I figured you would be the best source to ask.Punkinhead wrote:That is a classic icon of death metal, Chris Barnes, before Six Feet Under...If you actually try to do that, it takes skill...ToonaRockGuy wrote:And also, no disrespect to the band, but the lead singer of Cannibal Corpse, who just jams the mic against his neck and grunts.
