Bill Clinton is one of the people in my life that I look up to, I tried to see him when he was in Johnstown but it was too early for me to leave work, this time is the same thing with the distance I have to travel to Lewistown I just can't make it in time from work, I know on this forum many of you do not like him BUT I was paying less than $2. for gas then , there was NO war , and the Country had a surplus of cash , YES you heard right SURPLUS , Look at our economy now. I know the famous reply from Repubs here is that Clinton inherited that economy BUT he didn't have it in his first 4 years so apparently it takes 8 years to inherit a great economy? So what some head in the White House , Rock on Bill, who among you wouldn't have done the same thing? and atleast that didn't kill 5000 young Americans. I have said it before and again I say Bill Clinton the GREATEST President of the 20th century.
I'm glad I didn't have to fight in a war, I'm glad I didn't get killed or kill somebody, I hope my kids enjoy the same lack of manhood

hey, Lewistown has a lot of bars....maybe you can take President Clinton out and get him drunk and see how much he can swear :)

Couldn't resist. I personally don't like him either...but he still gets the label of President Clinton. Its about respect.

Clinton was awesome in L-town ... my second chance to hear our former president speak.

Image

First was in 2000 at the National Governor's Association meeting in State College. Security was pretty tight in 2000 (I was nearly tackled by Secret Service agents at that one — long story). Last night, not so much. We skipped line with our press passes in hand and kinda just walked through a side door to gain entry.

Whether or not you like what he has to say, Clinton is a great public speaker and his just-over-an-hour address last night was an experience.

I've heard Bush speak twice, as well. My advice is to take the opportunity to hear these people when they come around.

Obama arrives Sunday.

I agree with Rob here. Clinton worked the crowd at Dickinson in Carlisle yesterday for just over an hour. He was a bit late (suprise?) but it was worth the wait.

Crowd was a bit of a mixed bag, which was a bit of suprise. Living in Carlisle, I see many more Obama signs and stickers in town than Clinton signs -- and this was apparent at the Auditorium yesterday where a good many Obama supporters were in the house.

Nice speech by Clinton. He's a fantastic speaker, but really he didn't say anything in regards to what his wife will do that blew me away. I just don't see anything all-that-different about her from what we currently have, but Bill definately did a good job of working for the Campaign.

I'd love to go see Obama in State College - but I'll wait until he hits up Harrisburg... which he's almost guaranteed to do.

edit: Forgot to mention, one of Obama's advisors and a Seton Hill professor was at Dickinson yesterday as well in the afternoon before Clinton arrived. Didn't get a chance to see him... but it was supposed to be a smaller venue (classroom) and apparently 300 kids showed up for quite the meeting.

Oh yeah some things you forgot about Bill... While he was playing hide the cigar in the Oval office with an intern, Bin Laden was bombing Us Embasies all over the world and the USS Cole. After Bill lied to his wife about Monica and threw Hillary under the bus to protect himself, he was in for he political fight of his life. While he was telling the American public to mind their own business (Sorry Mr. Pres what happens in the Oval Office is our business...) and sweating out the impeachment process, he recieved the best level intellegence that he could have gone after Bin Laden and eliminated him without threat to civilians. He chose not act beacuse he didn't want to inflame his own political storm here in the US.

Here's something to thinlk about. Ho Bin Laden no 911. Yeah it's all Bushes fault.

Your greatest President sold out his country over a blow job in the Oval office. 3000 on 911 died because a guy lied to his wife about sex on the job.

The politcal process in America will not change until people are willing to honestly engage the positive and negative within their own party.

explanation

Post by Blue Reality »

Most intellegence experts agree that the the US had Bin Laden targeted at the end of Clinton's second term and the information was excellent. Clinton was asked by the CIA and armed services if they could inact a plan to extract him or kill him. Remember they knew Bin Laden was responsible for so many bombings and the USS Cole. Clinton said no. His later explanation was that, if the missed or if there was civilian deaths or if Bin Laden wasn't present, he (Bill) thought the repercussions were not worth the plus side of Bin Laden's death.

Years later, the intellegence community can verify that Bin Laden was where they said he was and he would be dead or captured had they acted. The same people say that Clinton was dealing with the Monica crap and was completely distracted and didn't want a disasterous or failed attempt on Bin Laden to be used by those who were looking to impeach him. There is no question that the whole Monica issue had a dramatic effect on his decsion making process with respect to getting Bin Laden.

Remember that other administrations had gone after similar individual with military action. Some were successful, some failed but Presidents had survived the failures. And Bill didn't have any qualms about bombing Kosovo earlier or sending in his wife to visit and handle snipers and sniper fire (couldn't resist that one).

We can't say with complete certainty that we would have gotten OBL had we acted. But its not really denialbe that the fallout over Monica definately influenced Clinton not to act.

IMO his lying over a blowjob in the Oval Office directly affected this country. If you want to get knobbed behind your wife's back, don't do it in the Oval Office. Our country is too important for that. If you do and get caught, grow some sack and come clean. Don't drag your country, your wife and family and possibly national security throught the mud.

Some members of my family are friends with a couple whose son is now safely home after having done two tours in Afghanistan. He related that there is a certain area he and his fellow Soldiers were not ALLOWED to go into because Bin Laden is KNOWN to be there. I think it is far, far worse that the current administration is PROTECTING Bin Laden.

Exactly........... so if everyone wasn't so concerned with who was sucking his dick maybe he could have concentrated on his job instead of a media scandal.

Ahhh yes those who impose their morality on others caused this. Ummmm he's the leader of the free world, and some of us are concerned about anything irrresponsible that happens in the Oval Office. Regardless of anyone's position of marital fidelity and oral sex, the issues was not that he got a blow job, but that he lied to the American people, his wife who made a complete idiot out of herself before the American people on his behalf, then he told us to mind our own business. Your conduct is our business mister Pres.... Do you remember that it was the dress that made him come clean?????????? Do you remember that he was impeached and disbarred in Arkansas because he lied and did his best to hide all of this from the American public? Nothing would have have happened if he simply said, "yeah I got a blow job in the Oval Office. i always wanted to get that. Yeah it was completely unfair to my wife and considering the stature of my job, I ket the Amercian people down." People would have stated their displeasure strongly and it would have ended. But no your beloved Pres. lied and denied until Monica produced a dress then told the American public that it was no ones business but his.

As I said in my previous post. Grow a pair and come clean. Be a man. But you failed to take that into account didn't you tonefight...

Actually, it's a horrible post. Marshall Blue is attempting to attribute causation between two events without any direct emprical evidence that they are related. Whether Clinton chose to ignore intelligence regarding the whereabouts of Bin Laden could be or could not be true (I honestly don't know, because it's not a subject I've researched). Making some allegation that because Clinton was getting a hummer is the cause of Bin Laden getting away through simple observation of linear events reaks of a confirmation bias. Show me some direct evidence that these two events are related! That's why I've never said on here that the reason gas is $3.39 is because Bush is in office. Bush is an oil man, so it does seem fishy, but I'm not going to come on here and say, "Because George W. is an oil man, it = high gas prices."

This is elementary fucking metaphysics and logic here people.

Sometimes when I read some of these political threads here, I think that Rockpage is just some social psychologist's study on confirmation bias, and I forgot because I just got done enjoying some beans before I signed my informed consent form.

And your post didn't give any evidence that Clinton's hummer didn't affect his time in office - what is the difference?

I could care less if he got bj in the oval office (knowing what his wife is like - I would have to (kind of) side with him on this one).

I don't think he was a good president. I really don't think he was a bad president either. As a matter of fact, in my opinion, he really didn't do much of anything while in office besides being extremely charismatic (and getting a young girl to blow him - Go Bill - Hillary's a %$&*&@).

When people tell me they thought Clinton was a great president I always ask them why they think that. They usually say something about the economy and then I ask then "What did Clinton do to stimulate the economy?"
