Jesus. Healey is one of my all-time favorites. I have most of his recordings, and I had the chance to see him play back in 1992 at the HardRock in Myrtle Beach, SC. A good friend of mine, Eddie Bush, opened up for Healey. I'll never forget that show (long story short here), because I was late and missed Eddie completely, but Jeff was playing as I walked in. I stood rooted in the same spot right inside the door for 2 hours just mesmerized by this cat. One of the absolute best players I've ever seen, blind or not.

Here's one of my favorite clips of Healey, I have a feeling he'll be jamming with Stevie a lot more now. RIP, Jeff, you deserve your spot at the top.

That is definitely a blow to the blues scene. He was such a talent.

Plus, he kicked ass in Roadhouse.

That saddens me about Jeff. I got to jam at his previous club called Healy's in Toronto twice within the last 5 years. Both times were great and I got to play with some super talented musicians. Jeff was not there either time but some of the regulars in the house band told me I should come back to meet Jeff and jam with him and what a great guy he was. That is not something that everybody gets to do. Unfortunately, I could not go either time on the days he was to be there. I regretted missing the opportunity to meet and play with Jeff but hoped to get to in the future. I, also, got to see his band play in Toronto in the early 90s and Paul Shaffer played half the show with them. It was amazing. Jeff was also a highly accomplished jazz trumpet player. He had just moved his club into a much larger venue near the CN Tower and Sky Dome in Toronto and was still playing there every week.

R.I.P. Jeff - You will be missed very much

This is very sad!! Jeff was awesome (and yeah - he was great in Roadhouse too!)

Too many times you hear about some famous person that dies at a young age and usually it is something stupid, but it is truly sad when it is someone like Jeff who has been battling cancer since he was a baby.

I also saw that his newest release will be available in the states in April.

How sad - he will be missed.
