The wife and I are shopping for new cells and just thought I'd seek input.

Phones...
I've always gotten a "Samsung"... Never had any problems with them. I now have the "Gz'one" by Casio. It's a little "bulky".. But... It's suppose to water proof, dust/dirt proof, shock proof and "idiot proof"...

i would recommend a blackberry or the moto Q as far as verizon is concerned. I am with AT&T and have the samsung Blackjack. The blackjack II is supposed to be better, but i like the regular blackjack because it comes with an extended life battery right outta the box.
But as i said, blackberry and motorola Q if you're looking for something that can do it all. Motorola seems to have the best internal antenna system for their phones. The new Razr's that are out are really nice too, just make sure you dont get a razr v3m, my mom has one and they suck out loud. My sister has the Envy (sp?) and it works pretty good. full keyboard and not a PDA style phone.
Blackberrys are great for email and web, Motorola Q's are great for Web and music, and the NV is great for texting and photos. Dont buy something that is shitty because you will be kicking yourself for it later. I say, if you want a lot of different things, get them now while you can, because when you are halfway through your contract and get a shitty upgrade price, and cant get what you originally wanted, you are screwed.

hope this helps
If your looking for a pda I would recommend the blackberry they have their own server which allows for instant push with your email! They are very reliable and user friendly. However you would have to add a data package! If your looking for good reception our best one is the LG VX8350! This one actually has a chip under the battery that gives it that extra boost! The most durable phone as stated above is our G'Zone! It' dirt, dust, shock and water resistant! This phone was built to military specifications! You can actually submerge in water for up to a half hour take it out, dry it of and make a call, not to mention the cool flash light! Lol! The ENV is a cool phone for texting and email because it has the QWERTY keyboard and it is very durable! Like I said, get a holld of me and we can see what would be the best!

Wow, I guess I'm gonna be the conservative dork here. *Shrugs* Oh well, here goes.
Understand need vs. want, and apply it to your budget.
You may "want"
Sit down with Shelly, make a list of the things that you need from a cell phone, then shop to find the one that fits the bill the best for the cheapest amount. Me? I'm simple, no camera, , no downloadable ringtones, no internet phone, no MP3 player, no phone that can control satellites while making a spicy gumbo at the same time.
I needed a phone that could 1) make phone calls, 2) have voice mail, 3) recieve/send the occasional text message. And that's what I got.
(No offense intended to Shannon, aka heyheyhey. I just quoted your post because it was the most "OhmyGAWD!!" that fit what I was trying to say.)

Ah how refreshing ToonaRock guy....I too only want the basics but of course maybe BDR wants all the techy things you guys are talking about....personally I don't even understand any of it but thats just me. I am technically retarded and my ignorance is blissful in my simple life. Can't be bothered. Anyway BDR, if you DO want the basic cheap practically FREE phone after rebates and all, I like an LG phone because I left mine outside in the dew all night and after letting it dry out for a few days, I took it to verizon because it was still a little sluggish. They saudered (sp?) it for me at no charge, saying that it might not work, but it did work perfectly for another year after that!

Cellphones just have to much in them. when i see someone searching the web or sending 6 million texts, i wanna shit. but i usually just stand there and fart for a bit.
I wonder when cellphones will have little vibrator attachments for chicks.

I have the LG ENV. It shoots video and still photos.
I also purchased a 2 Gig memory card for it and have shitloads of music and videos. I connect the memory card up to my PC and can upload/download anything I want.
I got it free with Verizon. They offer a free phone after 2 yrs.
I always have my headphones pluged in and am listening to tunes for free all the time. Especially when I am sick of hearing people bitching.
Also it has a full keyboard for texting and emails.
PS Also has Stero Speakers when you open up the hood!

Give a man a fish and he will eat. But! Teach a man to fish and.... He'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day!
See, that's where we're leaning right now and, not to start a "bash Wal-Mart" thread, but if you're up for your two-year renewal through Verizon, you can get a Chocolate at Wal-Mart for ... $0. No strings.Bag wrote:Jeane has one and loves it.BadDazeRob wrote:What about the Chocolate? Talk to me peeps ...

I asked a salesperson at an authorized Verizon dealer yesterday (Circuit City) why I can get a Chocolate for free at Wal-Mart but have to pay $187 for one at their store, you know, to give her the chance to lay down the sales pitch, and she simply said, "Wal-Mart buys phones in bulk from Verizon and can set the price wherever they want, we're an authorized dealer, so we're told what we must charge for them."
There was no, "Well, if you buy it here ... blah, blah, blah." Well, to be honest, the customer service perks would have to be pretty impressive to convince me not to get a free phone at Wal-Mart at this point.

Turn the ringer off and set it to vibrate. Then just keep calling the phone, works the same. Thats what Sue Johanson said anyway.Team Transylvania wrote: I wonder when cellphones will have little vibrator attachments for chicks.
The Dickberry!

Some days you're the windshield, some days you're the bug.
See, your store at LTC was one of our stops yesterday (actually the first Verizon authorized dealer we stopped at) and that's where the pricing issue came up first. We thought, "well if we can get it for free at Wal-Mart, then the Verizon store should have at least the same deal, since it's a Verizon store."heyhey wrote:Come see me I'll help u out! I work @ verizon wireless @ the logan towne centre! You can also reach me on my buisness line! 814-414-5537!
We saw the prices, asked the salesman to run our account to see what the best deal was for us on phones and we were told that our primary line got $100 off a phone (which made a Chocolate $87) but the second phone would cost us full price, whereas, Wal-Mart is giving us both phones for $0 ... plus tax.
Maybe you could explain this in further detail if you wish to but again, it's gonna take one helluva sales pitch to convince me that a phone I have to pay for is a better deal than a free one at Wal-Mart.
Pitch away!
