Why no Grammy talk on Rockpage ?
Why no Grammy talk on Rockpage ?
Album of the year. River... Herbie Hancock.
Herbie has been a favorite for a long time. I'm going to go buy this album today.
There were some great performances on the TV show too. Anyone see it ?

amy winehouse.. and yes.. she's definately a crack/coke/heroin head...DrumAndDestroy wrote:can't say i even knew about the grammys being on.
i did read that the junkie chick from the uk won big...she's kinda crack head sheik
I can't say I pay much mind to the grammys and what not, cause most of the music I listen to is not mainstream enough to get a nomination.. although I will give big props to herbie...

It doesnt matter, Hawky-Hawk.
I think it would be really funny to hear her 'rehab' song done locally.
You are starting too early. Grab some more coffee and a bagel, bro.

I watched in amusement as Kanye West couldn't sing his way out of a wet paper bag.
As typical with most rap/hip hop, the lyrics were at best a 6th grade level and had all the emotional hooks of a Verizon Valentine's phone commercial. The result? 4 Grammys.
I really liked the glasses, though, and want to find a pair for Steve B. to wear at gigs.

...Oh, the freedom of the day that yielded to no rule or time...
Could not have been said any better. Every once in a while they get it right and honor someone worthy, like Herbie and Carlos Santana, but mostly what he said.bassist_25 wrote:I'm not really interested in watching an event where the artists who sells the most units and gets their ass kissed the most by the pretentious music press elite are honored.

The Grammys are a joke anymore. The last ones I saw were full on untalented morons. They are so liberal it's not funny. When I saw that kanye West was nominated for 8 awards, I said "WTF?" ...

I watched the show and agree there were some great performances, some good performances, and some absolutely awful performances. I was wondering how some of these people have record deals when they can't play or sing. Some of the worst ones like Kanye West and Amy Winehouse were even up for album of the year. It's good that Herbie Hancock won. Here are some performances that I remember.
Great performances
Herbie Hancock & Lang Lang with an orchestra
Andrea Bocelli & Josh Groban with an orchestra
Good Performances
The cast from Across The Universe
Tina Turner & Beyonce Knowles
Carrie Underwood
Alisha Keyes & John Mayer
Brad Paisley (Terrible song though - I Want To Check You For Ticks)
John Fogerty with Little Richard & Jerry Lee Lewis (he had a rough time)
Foo Fighters
Feist
The Time
Awful off key performances and just could not sing
Fergie & John Legend (he was okay)
Aretha Franklin & Be Be Winans (Aretha screamed yeah, yeah, yeah throughout the song and did not know the words)
Amy Winehouse
Kid Rock
Kanye West
Will I. Am

Does anyone else hear that song, "Walking on Sunshine" by Katrina and the Waves every time the New Orleans disaster is mentioned or is it just me?DrumAndDestroy wrote:you do have a pointRobTheDrummer wrote:The people of New Orleans should have been prepared for a disaster, they knew those fucking levees couldn't hold the water back already!DrumAndDestroy wrote: don't be silly...he fucked everyone over in the aftermath of katrina

That's what she said.
I pretty much agree with your performance assessment.moxham123 wrote:I watched the show and agree there were some great performances, some good performances, and some absolutely awful performances.
