I think their big hit was "someone like you"
Singer had a scream-y voice with a draino gargling tinge.

They would probably work with a "hair" style show

Why not try to book some good punk bands instead of washed up hair metal bands?

If I have to Google them, I'm probably not going to go to the show. Not a diss, just a fact.

If you're going for "washed up," why not pick bands that people will recognize? Most of the "good" (that term is relative) hair bands from the 80s are fairly cheap these days.

Bang Tango was offered to me. I never got into them back in the 80s, so I'm seeing what kind of response it might generate

And...I have requested bigger known older metal/80s bands...they aren't as cheap as one might think:

Skid Row, Testament, Wasp...all over $6000 but under $10,000...not very cheap!!!

and...I've also requested the Misfits.

As for NILE...they played Johnstown about five years ago...did you know that? I believe some of The Embalmed guys went to the show. They played a little bar called Baracka's (spelling might be off). They are coming to Cleveland, OH and Phill, PA...late march. Their tour is set already.

get some good bands, and maybe you won't have to ask about interest.

"Are you interested in seeing a washed-up 80s band chock full of prima-donnas with an ego the size of texas and nothing to show for it?" No, I am not.

"Are you interested in seeing a numetal band who's name sounds like exercise equipment twice in two months?" No, I am not.

"Are you interested in seeing an up-and-coming punk/hardcore/metal band who's busting their hump to make $250 a night just so they can put that in their gas tank and stomachs, just to play the next night?" Yes, I am.

take the hint. I think I speak for the majority
I think Longcat is a pretty cool guy. eh is loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong and doesn't afraid of anything.

I happened to see these guys in Pittsburgh about 4 years ago. I don't remember who they opened for, but they were totally wrong for the show they were on. The cool part was that they knew it, but had a good time anyway. These dudes made fun of themselves for being an 80's hair metal band and it was great. They were all good musicians, and definately on it, but the stage show was the best part. I would probably see them again for that reason alone. As far as "Big Rockstar" attitudes, It didn't seem that way when they were on stage, but who knows how they would have been off stage. While on stage though, they were a bunch of dudes that said Screw it and did their thing. They got my respect for that.

Well Barfight and Drum...there ya go...start buying talent and you'll be able to please the majority...business opportunity is sitting right in front of you for the taking.

I get it, you don't dig the kinda shows I'm putting on. But the 250 people showing up to see the Bulletboys enjoy it. The 300 people who showed up for Dope enjoy it. The 300 people who showed up for Flaw enjoy it...and as for Bobaflex...they pull in about 150 people...I'm pleased with those numbers...so those 150 good paying people must also enjoy it! Egypt Central does about 100-150 people...Diecast brought about 100 (on a Tuesday!)...people are interested in the shows I'm doing.

Jaybird is right. Good 80's bands aren't cheap by any means. I know Bret Michaels solo was asking for an 8 grand guarantee a few years ago. Sure he's well over 10 now with the popularity of Rock of Love.

Misfits would be cool. So would Testament and Wasp. Seen Skid Row with Sollinger back in 2000. Excessively loud. Played a small club like they were still in the stadiums with Kiss. First time I ever seen a mosh pitt during I remember you. (think it was the first time they did too) Good show over all but if anyone is expecting it to sound like it does with Baz, you'll be disapointed.

Bang Tango would depend on when, the openers and my mood.

I have Bang Tango's "Dancin' On Coals" album. It's a great album. The singer has/had another project called Beautiful Creatures, that I also like. I don't think they're "hair" metal at all. Pretty unique sound actually. If I had to compare, I'd say a much heavier version of Buckcherry or something. Both albums that I mentioned are definitely worthy of a listen.

sorry jayb. i didn't say no one was interested in your shows. and you're right, i don't dig the bands you have up there. i wasn't trying to be a dick.

when good bands come around...i do jump on the chance to play with them.

though, if you get the misfits up there...i will come (even though the i was disappointed when i saw them a few years ago)

In regard to Barfights post that he has since edited - In it for the money...and you call me a moron. There is no money in music anymore! Like I said...any time you want to add up my expenses vs. profit you're more than welcome! If you don't care about the business of music...then shut up about the business of music...you comment on it all the f'en time like you have the industry sitting in the palm of your hand. You keep commenting on all my posts and giving such great advice...I challenge you do put your money where your great ideas are...that's it.

There is money if you're a popstar or a rare discovery in the rock world. Other than that you play for the love of music. There are a ton of bands that do 2-3 week tours, then go right back to the 9-5 job. Chances of being the next Metallica or Guns n Roses...this is rare in today's industry. That's why there are soooo many indie labels...100,000 is the same as selling 1,000,000.
